Victoria Colvin Enjoys Success at 2018 Great Lakes Equestrian Festival

Traverse City, Mich. – Aug. 3, 2018 – Adding to her streak of winning ways at 2018 competitions such as the Winter Equestrian Festival, Aiken Charity Horse Show, Devon Horse Show and Upperville Colt & Horse Show, Victoria Colvin rode to numerous tricolor ribbons during her four-week tenure at the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (GLEF) this summer. In both the hunter and jumper rings, Colvin laid down stellar performances throughout the month of July to accrue more accolades to her growing list.

Victoria Colvin rode to championships aboard Zambia Mystic Rose and many other mounts at the 2018 Great Lakes Equestrian Festival.

“I love coming to GLEF, and am thrilled to have had so much success here this year. This is my second year at the show and it has been wonderful,” said Colvin. “I have enjoyed being able to ride in both the hunter and jumper rings against tough competition, and am already looking forward to hopefully attending again next year.”

In total, Colvin earned 12 championships and seven reserve championships aboard 15 different horses. One of her crowning achievements of the series was taking the top slot in the $35,000 NetJets Welcome Stake FEI CSI2* during the third week of competition as the only double clear of the evening with Haras Rosa Mystica’s Zambia Mystic Rose. In the hunter ring, Colvin navigated courses ranging in height from 4’ to 2’6”, with equal success across the board. To cap off her time in Michigan, the young professional claimed second, third and fourth position with I Love Lucy, Cuba and Private Practice, respectively, in the $25,000 USHJA International Derby.

“This was my fifth show on [Zambia Mystic Rose], and every class I do she just gets better and better. Her stride is humongous… and covers so much ground. She just jumps with so much ease. It feels amazing. I’m so blessed to have her and thankful for the owner. She’s been very special,” commented Colvin on Zambia Mystic Rose.

On the docket next for Colvin is the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show in Lexington, Kentucky, where she will ride in the USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Championship and contest her reign as the 2017 champion of the USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship before heading up the East Coast to the Hampton Classic Horse Show in Bridgehampton, New York.
