Wellington, Fla. – Mar. 12, 2018 – We are less than a month out from the 9th Annual Land Rover Palm Beach International Gay Polo Tournament, and now is the time to reserve your field-side tailgates! Gay Polo League’s flagship charity event will return April 5 to 8, 2018 at the famous International Polo Club Palm Beach, with the action-packed day of the tournament taking place Saturday, April 7. The fierce and festive tailgate competition adds even more spirit to an already energetic weekend, with creative minds rewarded for their creations in a variety of categories.
The tailgate competition is an integral part of the International Gay Polo Tournament. Participants and attendees alike will revel in the eccentricities of the field-side spectacles, completing the unique polo experience offered by the Gay Polo League’s feature event.
“The tailgate competition is always one of the most spirited parts of the International Gay Polo Tournament culture,” explained Chip McKenney, GPL Founder and President. “Our friends and supporters put a great deal of effort into creating visually spectacular tailgates that add color and energy around the polo field. It is so much fun to walk around and see what people are capable of creating! The tailgates are a very important component of the GPL experience, and we always encourage our attendees to be as creative as possible when choosing their theme and decor.”
Though fun and whimsical, the annual tailgate is contested with much gusto. Themes in the past have included God Save the Queen!, Brunch at Tiffany’s, Gert’s Cut & Curl and Rosé All Day, to name a few. Costumes, props and menus combine to produce intricate tailgate experiences that spectators have an opportunity to enjoy, as many participants open up their tents to passersby in the spirit of sharing the fun.

2. Best Tailgate – Single tailgate space
3. Best Tailgate – Multiple tailgate spaces
4. Best Corporate Tailgate
5. Best Spirit
