Renowned Judges Announced for 2019 Buffalo International Horse Show

Buffalo, N.Y. – Sept. 5, 2019 – The 73rd Buffalo International Horse Show (BIHS) is pleased to announce their roster of esteemed judges. In the hunter ring, Kim Dorfman and Scott Fitton will be judging while Kim Kirton returns as this year’s jumper judge.

Dorfman of Aiken, South Carolina, is a licensed “R” judge participating at both US Equestrian (USEF) and the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) sanctioned events. She competed for over 40 years as an amateur, including being champion twice at the Devon Horse Show & Country Fair. Originally from Riverwood, Illinois, Dorfman has now been a licensed official for 35 years and has judges highly regarded horse shows all over the country including the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, the Washington International Horse Show Equitation Finals, the Capital Challenge Horse Show, the Blenheim Horse Show and USEF Pony Finals, among many more.

Fitton is also a US Equestrian “R” hunter and hunt seat equitation judge. Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Fitton grew up competing as a junior and amateur rider. Now based out of Wellington, Florida, Fitton is a successful trainer and horseman and has served as a licensed official for US Equestrian for nearly 20 years. Fitton has judged such horse shows as the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), HITS on the Hudson, the Capital Challenge Horse Show, Thunderbird Show Park, USEF Pony Finals, Pin Oak Charity Horse Show and the Aiken Summer Classic.

Coming to the BIHS from Ontario, Canada, Kirton has represented Canada in international competition as a junior as well as a member of Nations Cup teams. She will be judging jumper competition at the BIHS, bringing over 45 years of experience competing, training and judging at the highest level. Dubbed the “Queen of Speed,” Kirton became the first athlete to win three feature speed competitions over four days at Spruce Meadows in 1993.

The BIHS is a fantastic opportunity for those who will be competing at this year’s indoor finals in the fall, as the facility features one of the largest indoor riding arenas in the nation. Whether you attend this year’s BIHS as preparation for the fall indoor circuit and zone finals or to cheer on your friends and family, the BTRC welcomes you and wishes all exhibitors a fun and successful show!
