Polo Players Support Group Thanks Orthwein Family For Continued Support

Wellington, Fla. – May 4, 2018 – The Polo Players Support Group (PPSG) would like to thank the Orthwein family for naming the organization as a charity in memory of one of their cherished members, the late Steve Orthwein, who sadly passed away on March 11, 2018 at his home in Wellington, Florida. A 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, the mission of PPSG is to provide financial assistance to seriously injured or ill players and grooms.

“The Polo Players Support Group is very grateful to the Orthwein family for choosing our organization as one of the charities to send donations to in memory of Steve,” said Dave Offen, co-founder and president of PPSG. “On the field, Steve got to 6-goals. Off the field, as an ambassador to polo, family man and person, he was 10-goals all day long. They don’t come any better!”

Although Steve Orthwein was always a supporter of the PPSG, after his accident he had a heightened awareness of how important the mission is and how many injured or ill players and grooms could easily be forgotten if not for the PPSG. Please visit www.polosupport.com to view Steve’s video testimonial.

Orthwein was highly-respected in the polo community and was inducted into the Polo Hall of Fame in 2011. He was captain of the Yale University Polo Team as well as the St. Louis Polo Club and held the position of both chairman and president of the U.S. Polo Association.

To date, the PPSG has awarded over $2.3 million to 74 different seriously injured or ill polo players and grooms. If you would like to contribute in memory of Steve, please send checks to
