Ox Ridge Charity Horse Show Named US Equestrian Heritage Competition

Darien, Conn. – June 3, 2019 – The Ox Ridge Charity Horse Show presented by the Lindsay Maxwell Charity Fund is proud to announce its naming as a US Equestrian Heritage Competition. This esteemed tittle is reserved for long standing horse shows that have served as a contributor and advocate of the sport by upholding and promoting the equestrian ideals of sportsmanship and competition. Held by only 32 horse shows in the United States, Ox Ridge Charity Horse Show is thrilled to be awarded this recognition as it continues its dedication to the equestrian community and its beneficiaries, the Pegasus Therapeutic Riding and The Community Fund of Darien.

In its 88th year of competition the Ox Ridge Charity Horse Show boasts a rich heritage of honoring equestrian sport. The USEF 4* National event is a 501(c)(3) that has earned a permanent spot on many top athletes’ summer show schedules as they aspire to claim championship titles while riding for good causes. With an impressive 2019 prize list, including a $5,000 National Hunter Derby and a $50,000 Ox Ridge Grand Prix, and an array of exciting events, the annual horse show successfully caters to all levels of horsemanship and even offers perpetual trophies symbolizing the tradition that has been carried in the past and will continue in the future.
“I know I speak for all those who have come before, we are proud to be recognized for our achievements and will continue to work hard to promote and educate both our riders and community in all things equestrian,” said Alison Potter, Director of Operations of the Ox Ridge Charity Horse Show.
Held at the historic Ox Ridge Hunt Club, recently renamed the Ox Ridge Riding and Racquet Club, the charity horse show’s beautiful venue is one of the most storied equestrian facilities in the U.S. Over the past 105 years of operation, Ox Ridge has been a starting point for many notable equestrians and trainers, including George Morris. The Ox Ridge Riding & Racquet Club continues to serve as a meeting place for equestrians of all levels and ages, leaving an ever-lasting impression on the sport for years to come. In 2014 and 2015, the Ox Ridge Charity Horse Show was featured as in the USHJA Wheeler Museum’s exhibit “A Sporting Tradition: Iconic Horse Shows Across the United States” featuring photographs, artifacts and other memorabilia from some of the nation’s most iconic heritage horse shows.

This year, the Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund has a significant role in the annual horse show (running from June 11 to 16) as the presenting sponsor. The private philanthropic fund works to support children’s charities that provide care and access to education, as well as charities that are dedicated to the protection of animals. The Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund is a familiar name within the equestrian community as a reputable fund that is dedicated to both the benefiting charities and the growth of the sport. Without organizations like the Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund the Ox Ridge Charity Horse Show could not continue its long-standing tradition that has impacted the lives of so many in and out of the equestrian sport.
