Temecula, Calif. – July 2, 2020 – Nilforushan Equisport Events (NEE) is proud to partner with ShowMD to bring exceptional medical care to equestrian competitors at the Temecula Valley National Summer Series, presented by Interactive Mortgage. Thanks to ShowMD, riders can feel safe knowing that an experienced physician with knowledge of equestrian sport will be on-site at Galway Downs in order to help alleviate pains and illnesses to keep riders healthy and in the saddle.
ShowMD is owned and run by Barbara Blasko, an M.D. board-certified emergency medicine physician with over 20 years of clinical experience. An avid equestrian and competitor herself, she seeks to provide exceptional medical care to equestrian athletes.
“Many trainers and riders know that I am a physician and have asked me to help them out with medical problems over the years at shows. A few years back someone asked me, ‘why don’t you do this full-time?’ “commented Blasko. “I have known Ali and Francie for many years and when they asked me to debut at the Temecula Show, I couldn’t have been more excited. NEE provides world-class competition and I am excited to be a part of their team.”
Since the initial suggestion, the idea has now come to fruition and Dr. Blasko has assembled a team of advanced trauma certified nurses, physician assistants and medics to be present at horse shows to provide all aspects of care. Any riders, trainers or other participants that are feeling ill or are in pain can seek diagnosis and remedies in the ShowMD rolling treatment center.
“A few years ago I got really sick before a grand prix at Thermal. Fortunately, a friend knew Dr. Blasko and asked her to help me. Her care allowed me to feel well enough to compete. Dr. Blasko is kind, knowledgeable and, best of all, understands the physical demands of competitive riding. To have an experienced ER doctor at shows is invaluable,” remarked Mandy Porter, the 2017 winner of the AIG $1 Million Grand Prix at HITS Coachella and a competitor at the Temecula Valley National Summer Series.
The Temecula Valley National Summer Series, presented by Interactive Mortgage, completed its first week of equestrian action from June 24 – 28. The second week is currently ongoing and will conclude July 4.
