Horses Healing Hearts Selected to Participate in 2017 Great Charity Challenge

Wellington, FL – Dec. 8, 2016 – Horses Healing Hearts (HHH) was among 27 non-profit organizations selected in a lottery style drawing on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 to participate in the 2017 Great Charity Challenge presented by Fidelity Investments® (GCC). This will be the organization’s third year benefiting from the event, which helps to raise over $1.5 million for Palm Beach County charities each year.

The event will be held at the world famous Palm Beach International Equestrian Center on the evening of February, 4, 2017. It is a relay-style equestrian jumping competition, where each charity is assigned to a team consisting of two junior/amateur riders combined with one Olympic or world-class rider. The winning team will receive $150,000 for the charity they’re representing, and each participating charity is guaranteed to go home with $15,000.

In its inaugural year (2010), the GCC generated over $400,000 for 24 local charities and today, has donated over $9.2 million to 197 Palm Beach County charities. On Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 the eighth GCC jumping competition will take place and entertain competitors and supporters, alike. The GCC is a highlight event of the 12-week long Winter Equestrian Festival.

In 2015, HHH participated in the “Superhero” themed jumping competition, receiving $21,000 after the Brushwood Stables and Hilton family sponsored team ran a time of 103.494 seconds. Two years prior (2013), the charity was the recipient of a $25,000 surprise grant that was awarded the same night as the competition. To date, HHH has received a total of $46,000 in donations from the GCC.

The theme for this year’s featured event is animated movies! The crowd can expect to see some of their favorite horse-and-rider combinations dressed in costume for this great cause. Be sure to mark your calendars and prepare to cheer on Horses Healing Hearts.

Aside from participating in the GCC February event, Horses Healing Hearts (HHH) is looking forward to hosting its sixth annual White, White, West Party on Feb. 24, 2016 at the Wellington National Golf Club. More information about the White, White, West Party can be found here.
