Held at the Atlantis Resort Casino and Spa in Reno, Nevada, the four-day conference educates promotes multidisciplinary and collaborative advances in practice, research, and policy with an end goal of preventing child abuse and neglect through efforts to identify, rescue and provide services for at-risk youth.

Attendees of the nationally recognized conference include law enforcement, attorneys, judges, medical professionals, mental health professionals, community-based service professionals, substance abuse service professionals, teachers and community members who work on behalf of drug endangered children.

“We are honored to participate in the National Drug Endangered Children’s Conference, and introduce them to Horses Healing Hearts unique equine program,” says Olszewski. “Children are the most vulnerable victims when their parents are impacted by substance abuse, and we applaud the Conference for recognizing the enormous need to help these children.”

Olszewski will discuss the Horses Healing Hearts program and how it helps drug-endangered children break the family cycle of addiction through bonding with horses as a means to learn to connect with others.

The bond can then be combined with curriculum-based educational support groups to further position the child for a positive and successful future.

Sharing his thoughts on the opportunity for Olszewski to represent the state of Florida and HHH at the National Drug Endangered Children’s Conference, State Attorney Dave Aronberg said, “Liz is a passionate advocate for protecting children from the evils of drug abuse. I continue to see first-hand how her organization, Horses Healing Hearts, makes a real difference in the lives of children and families in our community.”

During her Wednesday session, Olszewski will also explain specific actions law enforcement and health and human services professionals can take to increase effectiveness in helping this population of children.

Founded in 2009, Horses Healing Hearts services children in South Florida and is the only program of its kind in the United States. The children who have participated in the over 1,000 program sessions provided by the trained staff at Horses Healing Hearts have received valuable life skills and prevention education, ensuring that they are at a lower risk for alcohol and drug offenses as they age.
