Greg Crolick, Courtney Lenkart and Jacob Pope Ride to Championships During WCHR Week in Traverse City

Traverse City, Mich. – July 24, 2020 – The second World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) week of the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival, presented by CaptiveOne Advisors LLC, brought a sea of skilled hunter horses and riders to Flintfields Horse Park, with many hoping to earn valuable points towards the WCHR Finals for their respective divisions. Impressing the judges to the tune of a clean sweep, Greg Crolick and Renaud Farm LLC’s Kuore never fell below first place to claim the championship title in the Wrenwood Farm Green Conformation Hunters. In the High Performance/Green 3’9” Hunters, Courtney Lenkart and Glorieus, owned by La Primera Hacienda, LP, navigated their way to the overall victory, while Corporate Way LLC’s With Honors carried Jacob Pope to the tricolors in the Performance 3’6” Hunters.

Defending their title as the Wrenwood Farm Green Conformation Hunter champions from Week Two, the first WCHR week in Traverse City, Crolick and Kuore ensured that their talents reigned supreme with five textbook rides that earned them the top call on the judge’s card in every class. Crolick and Kuore inched their way closer to a WCHR Finals slot thanks to their newest championship, which they earned after riding to first prize in three over fences classes, the handy and the under saddle. Due to their score, the highest you can earn in divisional competition, Crolick and Kuore were also named the Grand Green Hunter Champions. Garnering second place or third place in every class, Julia Szasz and her own Fusion were honored as the reserve champions in the Wrenwood Farm Green Conformation Hunters.

In the High Performance/Green 3’9” Hunter division, Lenkart nabbed class victories in three of the division’s five contests with Glorieus. The talented combination was awarded the blue ribbon in two over fences classes and the handy, and added to their top results with a third-place finish under saddle and a fifth-place result over fences. Thanks to their series of high-scoring efforts, Lenkart and Glorieus managed to pull away from the pack to earn the coveted championship honors. Putting up a good fight, Meagan Murray-Tenuta and Becky Price’s Last Word claimed the reserve championship after scoring points in all five divisional classes, led by their winning performance in the hack.

The Performance 3’6” Hunters saw Pope and With Honors take the cake following two days of riding against stiff competition that forced the pair to put their best performances forward. Beginning Wednesday, Pope jumped With Honors to second place over fences and fourth place in the handy to keep them in contention for the championship trisolors. Returning to the Polk Family Main Hunter Ring on Thursday, the partnership upped their game for the two final over fences classes, pulling in high scores that earned them first place and second place, enough to push them to the top of the overall scorecard. With near identical results, Caitlyn Shiels and Durpetti Equestrian LLC’s Lucca captured the reserve honors, placing first and fourth over fences, second in the handy and second under saddle.

Friday marked the halfway point of Week Four of the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival, presented by CaptiveOne Advisors LLC. The show will continue, with the $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, presented by Copper Fox, taking place Saturday evening, followed by the $10,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby on Sunday.
