FROM THE WINNER’S CIRCLE

Grace Debney – Brandywine Cup recipient
On Quimby:
“We just imported him last August, so he’s really new to this. He’s only 7 years old so we were just going into this hoping for practice and experience for him, so it’s just amazing that he did so well. He’s been so amazing this circuit.”

On both phases of the Brandywine Cup:
“For the jumper round we had two plans for every test in the round. Because [Quimby] is a baby we didn’t know how he was going to act, but then he turned out being amazing! During the hunter round I made a couple of mistakes myself but [Quimby] was perfect. After the test we moved up two spots to take fourth.”
On winning the Brandywine Cup:
“It’s really special to me because this is such a great horse show and it’s done so nicely. The Mike Rheinheimer Cup is an honor to earn because I’m good friends with Amanda Lyerly.”
Patricia Griffith – $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby winner
On Sonder:
“Sonder is 6 years old and he is owned by Lexi Maounis. This is his third National Derby win. He is a 3’3″ Pre-Green horse but he is really cut out for these classes. He is straightforward and brave despite his age. I can always count on him and he is almost a little better when the jumps are a little scary. He is a pleasure to ride.”

On showing at Brandywine Horse Shows:
“I’ve come here before and the show is awesome and I have to say that the jumps are spectacular. It’s always run really well and we’re excited to be back. The prizes here are unbelievable. There are a lot of nice perks for the riders too.”
Emma Walters – Grand Junior 3’3″ Hunter Champion
On Crisp:
“I started riding him in the beginning of 2017 and I did the children’s hunter divisions for awhile. I moved up with him that August and ever since it’s been up from there! He’s super lazy outside of the ring but once he goes in he wants to show off and he really shines.”
On showing at Brandywine:

“It’s my first time here and it definitely made a good impression. It’s been a nice show and it’s run really well.”
