Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center Gears up for Final 2017 Competitions and 28th Annual George Morris Clinic

Buffalo, N.Y. – Oct. 13, 2017 – Throughout October and November, the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center (BTRC) will host two more competitions as well as its highly anticipated 28th annual George Morris clinic.

The second BTRC Series Show event of the year will be held Oct. 20–21 followed by the BTRC Series Finale Show on Nov. 3–4, where series championships, year-end coolers and high-score awards will be presented. Download the 2017 BTRC Series Show prize list here.

Riders at the BTRC will be polishing their boots and making sure all tack is in pristine condition when Morris makes his way to the upstate New York facility for his yearly clinic, which will be held Nov. 10–12.

As part of the USHJA Trainer Certification Program, this clinic is one of the most anticipated events for equestrians looking to improve their riding techniques and broaden their knowledge of the sport from a true legend.

All of the BTRC’s clinics and events serve as fundraisers for its programs aimed at providing children with special needs the chance to ride and care for horses. Past clinicians include Rodney Jenkins, Buck Brannaman, Melanie Smith Taylor and Beezie Madden. The BTRC also welcomes the public to ride in or audit its many clinics.

Often referred to as the “founding father of equitation,” Morris will teach in a personal setting with three groups of riders at varying levels: intermediate, jumper and advanced. Limited spots remain in the jumper and advanced sections. Reserve your spot as soon as possible to avoid getting shut out of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by calling 716-877-9295 or emailing becandbtrc@aol.com!

For those who have always wanted to watch world-class training and instruction from the esteemed horseman and rider firsthand, auditing spaces are $250 per person for all three days or $90 per person each day. If an auditor would like credit for the USHJA Trainer Certification Program, the cost is $300 for all three days. The BTRC is still accepting rider and auditor applications. Information and applications to attend this year’s clinic can be found here.

Executive director of the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center, Susie Schoellkopf, has hosted the clinic with Morris for over 25 years. Schoellkopf admires Morris’ focus on getting back to the basics and strongly believes his teachings help raise the standards of training and instruction in the United States.

The BTRC houses both the Buffalo Equestrian Center as well as SBS Farms, Inc. Built in 1922, the 160-stall facility is a historical landmark, with its unique English Tudor and Gothic-style architecture. For more information on the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center, please visit www.thebtrc.org.
