Upcycling with Changing Tides: From Trash to Treasure

Gordonsville, Va. – December 6, 2019 – “Use only what already exists.” This is the tenet for which Changing Tides was founded with its end goal of zero waste. Each incredible creation was repurposed and reimagined to be environmentally conscious. Check out these four beautiful gifts available online, which went from trash to treasure thanks to upcycling.

Eco-Shades: All our frames are made from repurposed plastics and metals. The temples are either recycled plastic, or formed from natural bamboo or wood.

Peace Jewelry: Each piece is created from bullets and ordinance still found in Cambodia and Laos from the Vietnam War. A portion of their sales is donated to clearing the lands of unexploded munitions and bombs.

Airline Bags: These premium bags are made from retired leather airplane seat covers, airline uniforms, as well as upcycled Royal Robbins fabrics.

Flip-Flop Animals: These wonderful animals are playful art pieces, and they have positively impacted many by cleaning up over a thousand tons of flip-flops from the ocean and waterways in Kenya.

Changing Tides (a branch of BioStar US) is dedicated to giving back to our communities and to the earth. The products they offer – upcycled, repurposed, reimagined – are both environmentally conscious and financially supportive to important environmental organizations making an impact. Purchases help support Ocean Conservancy, working to bring people, science and policy together with a mission to counter the many threats to ocean health and sustainability. From protecting vital, vulnerable ecosystems through legislation, to enforcing accountability among leaders, Ocean Conservancy seeks solutions for a healthy ocean and the wildlife and communities that depend on it.
