Superior Results for Riffle Hitch LLC at Iconic Devon Horse Show and Upperville Colt & Horse Show

Upperville, Va. – June 19, 2018 – Led by renowned trainer and rider Nicole Shahinian-Simpson, the team at Riffle Hitch LLC continued with their spring competition schedule in top form at two of the most iconic venues in the country: the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair in Devon, Pennsylvania, and the Upperville Colt & Horse Show in Upperville, Virginia. The team was able to pick up right where they left off, following a successful tour along the West Coast, to deliver stellar performances and achieve top ribbons.

Riffle Hitch LLC’s Violet Lindemann Barnett kicked off the first day of Junior Weekend at Devon, which also marked her first time showing at the historic event, riding her own Venice to high scores in both the WIHS Equitation Classic – Jumper Phase and the Dover Saddlery/USEF Hunter Seat Medal.

Lindemann Barnett began the second day of competition with a great round in the ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship class before switching gears to compete in the Small Junior 15 & Under Hunter division aboard her other mounts, Luscious and Delightful. The talented up-and-coming junior athlete piloted Luscious to impressive scores of 88 and 80 in the over fences and stake rounds, respectively, and was second in the undersaddle with the 9-year-old Warmblood gelding in the highly competitive division.

Lindemann Barnett’s mother, Sloan, shares the same passion for horses and riding as her daughter and was able to return to the prestigious Devon Horse Show for the first time in over 20 years. Sloan demonstrated a phenomenal comeback aboard her own Coronation, finishing up reserve champion in the Amateur-Owner Over 35 3’3″ Hunter division. In addition to winning the handy round, the pair was awarded high scores in the 80s from the judging panel in every over fences class.

Shahinian-Simpson and Silver Raven Farms’ Akuna Mattata also showcased their abilities in the famed Dixon Oval throughout the second week of the Devon Horse Show. The highly-respected professional rider and the 10-year-old Holsteiner mare navigated a technical track and finished double-clear to capture the fourth place ribbon in the $50,000 Jet Run Devon Welcome Stake CSI4*.

To make an already special week at the 2018 Devon Horse Show even more memorable for team Riffle Hitch LLC, Shahinian-Simpson finished double-clear once again and was ultimately second in Saturday evening’s $70,000 Idle Dice Open Jumper Stake CSI4*.

Next, the team traveled to the Upperville Colt & Horse Show, where Violet brought home more top placings including riding Coronation to the Small Junior 3’6″ Hunter reserve champion tricolor.

The duo topped an over fences class and claimed two more second place finishes over fences, while also placing second in the hack.

Shahinian-Simpson and Akuna Mattata rounded out Riffle Hitch LLC’s time at the Upperville Colt & Horse Show on a high note, capturing fourth place honors in the $216,000 Upperville Jumper Classic CSI4* on Sunday after a solid double-clear performance.

Following the Upperville Colt & Horse Show, the action will continue as the Riffle Hitch LLC team heads to Canada to compete at Spruce Meadows as part of their summer competition schedule.
