Savonna Adell Captures Pony Hunter Championships at Lake Placid Horse Shows

Lake Placid, NY – July 10, 2018 – Set amongst the rolling greenery of the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York, the Lake Placid Horse Shows are known for being “the best two weeks of a horseman’s summer,” and this year’s event lived up to its expectations for Savonna Adell and the team at Little Brook Farms. For nearly 50 years, the Lake Placid Horse Shows have welcomed the country’s leading horses and riders at their state-of-the-art facility.

Trained by Gary, Donna and Kelsey Duffy at Little Brook Farms, Adell looked forward to returning to the stunning venue this summer. The village of Lake Placid was the site of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games, and continues to host world-class competitions every year in July for the Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows. With over $535,000 in prize money offered, the show attracts some of the most discerning hunter, jumper and equitation riders from around the nation.

“I had so much fun showing at Lake Placid,” expressed Adell. “It’s a beautiful horse show and all of the ponies were perfect. Earning three championship ribbons the second week was better than I could have expected. I am so happy with how they are performing and I am very excited for Pony Finals.”

During the first week of competition, Adell piloted both Blackout and her own Laugh Out Loud to impressive results in the Medium Pony Hunter division to kick off the show in peak performance. In one of the over-fences classes, Adell was second aboard Blackout and took the third place ribbon with Laugh Out Loud. She topped the handy once again with a one-two punch riding Blackout and Laugh Out Loud, respectively. Savonna and Blackout, a 13-year-old Welsh gelding, wrapped up the division earning the reserve championship title.

Riding Spellbound in the Large Pony Hunter division, Adell took home second place in the undersaddle before returning to jump to another second place finish over-fences in an extremely competitive division.

The second week of competition at the I Love New York Horse Show saw Adell rise to the occasion once more, earning three tricolor ribbons to add to the Little Brook Farms’ tack room set-up. In the Medium Pony Hunters, Laugh Out Loud donned the championship ribbon and cooler while Sportin’ Around was presented with the reserve championship prize. Laugh Out Loud was third in the undersaddle and secured two blue ribbons over-fences. In the handy phase, Sportin’ Around topped the class while Laugh Out Loud came in second place.

Adell and Spellbound earned the championship ribbon in the Large Pony Hunters to conclude a remarkable two weeks of showing. The talented pair won the undersaddle in addition to the first over-fences class in the division.

“Savonna was incredibly consistent with her rides these past two weeks,” said Gary Duffy. “Lake Placid features some of the best ponies in the country, so to have big wins during both weeks of the show is very exciting. Savonna rode great and the ponies jumped beautifully – we couldn’t be happier!”

Looking ahead, Adell and the rest of the team at Little Brook Farms will head to their next destination on their summer show schedule, the Chemung County Summer Series before the Kentucky Summer Horse Shows.
