Prize List Now Available for Kentucky Summer Horse Show Series

Lexington, Ky. – May 22, 2018 – Kentucky Horse Shows LLC is excited to announce that the prize list for the 2018 Kentucky Summer Horse Show Series is now available online. The series will feature five weeks of top-notch hunter/jumper competition at the breathtaking Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. The prize list and entry forms can be accessed here.

The first week of competition will kick off with the Kentucky Summer Horse Show, which will run from July 25-29. The $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby, also sponsored by the World Equestrian Center, will run as a qualifying class towards the $30,000 Leading Rider Awards, which is open to both professionals and amateurs.

Jumper highlight events include the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic and $50,000 Rood & Riddle Kentucky Grand Prix, both of which are part of the popular Hagyard Challenge Series, sponsored by Hagyard Equine Medical Institute. A $50,000 Leading Rider Bonus will be awarded to the jumper athlete who accumulates the highest number of points in the classes that are a part of the series. For younger jumper riders, there will be the $10,000 Under 25 Grand Prix. In addition, there will also be the WIHS, NAL and Show Jumping Hall of Fame Classics, which will take place every week of the summer series.

Kentucky Summer Series Prize List

The series will continue with the Kentucky Summer Classic, running from July 31-Aug. 5. The $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic will be held on Thursday, August 2 at 6:30 p.m., while the $50,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix, sponsored by GGT Footings, will occur on Saturday, August 4 at 7 p.m. Both will take place in the Rolex Stadium. Hunter competition will feature the $5,000 WEC/Kentucky Horse Shows USHJA National Hunter Derby in the Stonelea Ring on Saturday, August 4.

After the conclusion of the USEF Pony Finals on August 7-12, hunter/jumper competition will resume with the third week of the series, the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show on August 14-19. This week features both the highly-anticipated USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship from August 17-18 and the Platinum Performance/USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Championship from August 14-16. Riders will vie for year-end points during the World Champion Hunter Rider (WCHR) week, which will wrap up with another $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby on Sunday at 12 p.m. in the Alltech Arena.

Jumper highlights include the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic and the $40,000 Bluegrass Festival Grand Prix, sponsored by Audi of Lexington.

The Kentucky Summer Series will culminate with the KHJA Horse Show from August 22-26. The $15,000 Hagyard Welcome Stake will kick off on Thursday, August 23 in the Rolex Stadium starting at 7 p.m., while the $30,000 KHJA Grand Prix will take place on Saturday, August 25 at 7 p.m. Hunter competition will include the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby occur on Saturday, August 25 in the Stonelea Arena.

All shows in the summer series are qualifying events for the Washington International Championships and the North American League Finals.
