“Footing has become a primary thing for us when we’re picking which horse shows to go to,” said Tom Wright of Uphill Farm. “Now that Traverse City has this premier footing, I think we’re going to see a lot more horses and barns coming here. It’s a great thing.”

“The footing is lovely this year,” said Heather Irvine of Hillside Farm. “Everything has been re-done. The new fencing around the show is nice and there are great course designers, judges and management here. We just love it. It’s a great place, and it’s a destination horse show too so people can come and be on the lake, skydive, go parasailing, golf and have a family vacation at the same time.”

Weeks IV, V and VI will feature one week of CSI2* competition and two weeks of CSI3* competition, where the season will culminate with the highly anticipated $100,000 Grand Prix of Traverse City CSI3* on Sunday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m. In addition, Week IV will also highlight the $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, presented by Copper Fox LLC, in the Grand Prix Ring on Saturday, July 28, at 4 p.m.

The first grand prix competition of the 2018 season will be held on Sunday, July 8, with the $50,000 Great Lakes Grand Prix, presented by East Wind Farms, at 2 p.m., while Week II will feature the $50,000 Meijer Grand Prix of Michigan on Sunday, July 15.

Other highlights from Week I include the $30,000 Welcome Stake on Friday and the $5,000 Ingram Family USHJA National Hunter Derby on Sunday, where the winner will take home the first Platinum Performance Hunter Horse of the Week award of the circuit.
