Junior and Pony Hunter Riders Will Have Their Time to Shine at 50th American Gold Cup, Presented by CaptiveOne Advisors LLC

Traverse City, Mich. – Aug. 14, 2020 – Traverse City Horse Shows is excited to announce the addition of two new prize money classes for juniors and pony riders to the schedule during the 50th American Gold Cup, presented by CaptiveOne Advisors LLC. On the final day of competition, Sunday, Sept. 13, the $5,000 Traverse City Horse Shows Junior Hunter Classic and $2,500 Traverse City Horse Shows Pony Hunter Classic will provide opportunities for young riders to compete in championship-style events. For the first time in its history, the American Gold Cup will be welcoming hunters to the show ring this September, and the team at Traverse City Horse Shows wanted to ensure hunter exhibitors of all levels had ample chances to show off their skills.

Fall festivities at Flintfields Horse Park will begin with the Adequan/USEF Junior Hunter National Championships East Coast from Aug. 23 – 25, followed by the CSI3* week of the Traverse City Fall Horse Show, presented by Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel, from Aug. 26 – 30. The American Gold Cup will begin with its initial CSI2* week, featuring the Silver Oak Jumper Tournament (SOJT) and presented by The Davis McCullough Foundation, from Sept. 2 – 6, and the prestigious CSI4* week will be from Sept. 9 – 13, 2020. This will serve as the finale to conclude 11 total weeks of equestrian action in Traverse City.
Hunter highlights during the three fall weeks will include:
August 26-30: Traverse City Fall Horse Show CSI3*, presented by Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel
  • $7,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby
  • AA rated Hunters, Level 6 Jumpers and Equitation
September 2-6: American Gold Cup CSI2*, presented by CaptiveOne Advisors LLC and featuring the Silver Oak Jumper Tournament
  • $25,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby
  • AA rated Hunters, Level 6 Jumpers and Equitation
September 9-13: American Gold Cup CSI4*, presented by CaptiveOne Advisors LLC
  • $25,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby
  • $2,500 2’6″ Non Pro Hunter Derby
  • $5,000 Traverse City Horse Shows Junior Hunter Classic
  • $2,500 Traverse City Horse Shows Pony Hunter Classic
  • AA rated Hunters, Level 6 Jumpers and Equitation
In total, more than $160,000 will be available for the taking in hunter contests throughout the three weeks of fall competition, another layer of incentives for competitors.

Individuals interested in VIP tables can now reserve their spot in the elegant VIP space that offers premier viewing of both the Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel International Ring and the Jumper Annex. VIP Club members can expect a private, socially-distanced table of six seats, as well as breakfast, lunch and drinks every day of the show, Wednesday to Sunday.
