The Hamel Foundation Named 2018 Title Sponsor of the National Horse Show 3’3″ Equitation Championship

Lexington, Ky. – Jan. 29, 2018 – The 2018 National Horse Show is thrilled to announce The Hamel Foundation as this year’s title sponsor of the second annual National Horse Show 3’3” Equitation Championship. The National Horse Show returns to the Kentucky Horse Park this fall from Oct. 27 to Nov. 4, 2018.

The mission of the Hamel Family Foundation is to support organizations that are advancing the educational, health or well being of individuals that are not able to do this on their own accord. The foundation is eager to use their sponsorship to be able to give back to the equestrian community which has become such an integral part of their lives.

Jaden Porter, Caroline Blake, and Molly Canfield were the top three finishers in the inaugural National Horse Show 3’3″ Equitation Championships

Hailing from Richfield, Wisconsin, the Hamel family became involved in the equestrian community when their youngest child, Sydney, started riding ponies. She then joined the United States Pony Club and fell in love with the hunter/jumper sport. The family now has their own farm, Sunset View Farms LLC, where they stable and train their horses and care for a large variety of animals.

“We are so honored to have our foundation aligned with a historic event such as the National Horse Show,” remarked Kristen Hamel of the Hamel Foundation. “Supporting the 3’3” Equitation Championship helps us to further our mission in supporting young riders, striving to be the best they can be and we are looking forward to a long and successful partnership with this division in the years to come.”

n 2017, the National Horse Show added the 3’3” Equitation Championship to its already all-star roster of hunter and jumper classes. The addition of this new class was a massive success that brought together some of the country’s most talented up-and-coming equitation riders. The new class allowed riders the opportunity to compete at the prestigious horse show, while also providing the opportunity to gain invaluable experience riding in the same ring as the highly-anticipated ASPCA Maclay National Championship, held annually at the National Horse Show since 1933.

The Hamel Foundation will present the winner of the class with a commemorative trophy, and a cooler for each of the top ten finalists. The trainer of the winning rider will also receive a Trainer’s Award.

“The support from the Hamel Foundation of the 3’3” Equitation Championship will be invaluable to the National Horse Show,” said Mason Phelps, President of the Board of Directors of the National Horse Show. “Their commitment to the success of the division will help us to ensure that as many young riders as possible will have the opportunity to be competitive in the ASPCA Maclay Finals and be a part of National Horse Show history.”
