The 2017 action-packed six-week series offered the perfect combination of exciting equestrian competition and great family fun and has received rave reviews from exhibitors, trainers and spectators alike.

Five of the six weeks were FEI-rated competitions, featuring CSI2* and CSI3* grand prix events with some of the world’s top international horses and riders competing, concluding with the highly anticipated $100,000 Grand Traverse Grand Prix CSI3* on Sunday, Aug. 13, which was won by Colombia’s Roberto Teran Tafur and Brilliant Du Rouet. GLEF’s commitment to increasing prize money and international competition will continue to expand with plans for two CSI3* weeks in 2018.

“I’m super excited,” said Tafur. “This is a fantastic show and it’s going to be bigger and bigger every year. The footing is fantastic, the city is amazing and the management is wonderful. To be part of this is very exciting. We’ll be here next year for sure.”

“We’re always looking for ways to improve the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival to make it a more enjoyable experience on all fronts for both horses, riders and spectators,” said Matt Morrissey of Morrissey Management Group. “We’re already beginning to work on 2018’s circuit and look forward to seeing everyone in Traverse City again next summer!”
