The retirement of the legendary Rothchild, McLain Ward’s beloved partner and Pan American Games gold medalist, will be held prior to Sunday’s feature event, the coveted $204,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ New York CSI4*-W.

Ward and his team will take to the Grand Prix Field to share some words on the renowned Warmblood gelding and unveil a video showcasing highlights from Rothchild’s decorated career. Throughout the week, spectators will have the chance to sign a retirement card as well as take photos with a cutout of Rothchild. Both of these will also be available during the autograph session with the grand prix athletes, including Ward, following Sunday’s competition on the Grand Prix Field.

Also prior to the $204,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ New York CSI4*-W on Sunday will be a Hylofit demonstration with Olympian Rodrigo Pessoa as well as the competitive Rushy Marsh Farm Leadline class and performances by the Big Apple Circus.

World renowned for its one-ring, intimate and artistic style, the Big Apple Circus is passionate about revitalizing the circus for modern-day audiences with unique and astounding human feats, innovative design and technology. Sunday’s acts at the American Gold Cup will feature fan-favorite Jenny Vidbel and her adorable rescue dogs, husband and wife acrobatic team Duo Fusion and unique and comedic juggling by Adam Kuchler — all presented by new powerhouse ringmaster, Stephanie Monseu.

Family entertainment begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday and will include pony rides with Pied Piper Pony Rides, face painting and shopping on Boutique Row featuring Hermès, Danbury Porsche and Audi, a variety of luxury clothing brands, high-end equestrian apparel, antiques, jewelry, pet accessories, home accents and so much more!

Macaroni Kid Westchester North will host crafts and activities from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, with 200 spots available for horse shoe painting as well as story time and a chance to get your hair done ‘pony’ style. Guests can also stop by New Chance Dog Rescue to meet dogs looking for their forever home!

Sunday afternoon will feature the Education Fair, presented by Miller & Associates, in the Hedge Ring where visitors can meet representatives from and learn more about the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) and the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA), which enables students from middle school through college to compete from beginner to advanced levels. Guests can also enjoy the Animal Embassy Show under the Old Salem Farm balcony from 12–2 p.m. as well as caricature paintings and learn how to draw their own keepsake horse.

Saturday and Sunday tickets for the 2018 American Gold Cup are $20 per adult and $15 per child (4–12 years old), seniors 65+ and military members. Children 3 and under are free. Saturday, Sept. 29, will highlight the $35,000 Hermès Sellier Classic and $75,000 Fidelity Investments® Classic CSI4* on the Grand Prix Field.
