The Chesapeake International Draft Horse Show Gives Back to Young Singers of the Palm Beaches and EQUUS Foundation

Wellington, Fla. – Jan. 31, 2019 – Hosted by highly-respected animal advocate and horsewoman Victoria McCullough, the inaugural Chesapeake International Draft Horse Show will occur at the stunning Crab Orchard, generously donated by Frank and Monica McCourt. The show is one of 60 North American Six-Horse Hitch Classic Series (NASHHCS) competitions. The team behind the Chesapeake International Draft Horse Show is thrilled to announce that its public event on Feb. 8-10 will benefit local charities in the South Florida area, including Young Singers of the Palm Beaches and the EQUUS Foundation.

Young Singers of the Palm Beaches is an award-winning community-based children’s choir based at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida and will be highlighted on Saturday at the Chesapeake International Draft Horse Show. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness members of the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches perform on Saturday afternoon.

“Being able to work with Victoria – what comes through to me is her love of animals and her love of children. It’s obviously evident in what she does with her foundation but also through her actions,” Berry acknowledged. “She is with our children and our choir in Belle Glade, and she really loves to help these boys and girls. For me, it’s just the passion of her wanting to work with these two groups.”

He continued, “It’s quite an honor to be involved with the Chesapeake International Draft Horse Show. A lot of the money will be used for scholarships so boys and girls can sing and be a part of this group. We’re finding more and more these days that boys and girls need more ways to connect. Victoria sees the pride on their faces and watches the boys and girls grow from year to year when she attends the concerts, so for Young Singers I feel very, very fortunate that we have made a connection with her. I hear her passion when I talk to her and she doesn’t just talk it, but she walks it.”

The EQUUS Foundation is the only national charity in the United States that is fully dedicated to ensuring the welfare of America’s horses and fostering the bond between humans and equines. By focusing its efforts on empowering equine charities, inspiring horse lovers and educating the public, the mission of the EQUUS Foundation is to protect America’s equines and strengthen the connection between horses and people.

“The EQUUS Foundation is honored and thrilled to have been chosen as a beneficiary of the inaugural Chesapeake International Draft Horse Show in Wellington, Florida on February 8-10 by renowned equine advocate, Victoria McCullough,” said EQUUS Foundation V.P. of Engagement, Valerie Angeli. “Victoria is not only a lifelong, expert horsewoman, and now owner of World Champion competition Clydesdales, but there is no one more committed to the welfare and rescue of America’s horses.”

“It is our hope that this show will inspire and amaze those who are unfamiliar with these giant and powerful, yet gentle and versatile draft horses. As Victoria says, they are not only beautiful, they are surprisingly quiet, grateful, stoic and easy to sustain,” Angeli said. “Often overlooked for adoption because of their massive size, they give their might and their heart in sport and also as pleasure, trail and driving horses, companions and therapy horses.”

The Chesapeake International Draft Horse Show is the first competition of its kind to come to Wellington, Florida, bringing with it an atmosphere that is larger than life and rooted in tradition. Founded by Victoria McCullough, this exciting show blends sport and family, while supporting two charities that are close to McCullough’s heart – EQUUS Foundation and Young Singers of the Palm Beaches. Held as one of 60 North American Six-Horse Hitch Classic (NASHHCS) competitions, the Chesapeake International Draft Horse Show is a one-of-a-kind event that you won’t want to miss!
