Cherry Knoll Farm Hosts Educational Event with Certified Angus Beef® Brand and Sysco®

West Grove, Pa. – May 3, 2017 – Cherry Knoll Farm welcomed representatives from Certified Angus Beef® Brand, as well as Sysco® Corporation, to their picturesque facility in West Grove, Pennsylvania, on April 22, for a day packed full of farm-to-table education on quality Angus standards. The Certified Angus Beef® Brand, which sets the highest quality standards for Angus, was thrilled to join Cherry Knoll Farm to facilitate the event.

Sysco® Eastern Maryland representatives, who work to supply food service establishments and restaurants on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and regions of Delaware, traveled to Cherry Knoll Farm to experience an Angus raising operation of the highest quality. With over 130 people in attendance, the team at Cherry Knoll Farm offered an inside look at what goes into rearing premier Angus cattle.

In today’s society, most people are very far removed from the origin of the food they consume. At the Cherry Knoll Farm event, all of those in attendance were given the opportunity to learn the value of quality branded Angus from a farm perspective, particularly those branded by Certified Angus Beef® Brand specifications.

Kara Lee, the supply programs manager for the Certified Angus Beef® Brand, was excited to be a part of the day and help broaden Sysco® suppliers’ understanding of quality production that begins on the farm.

“These people understand what quality beef is from a culinary perspective, and they know what goes into quality as far as our brand specifications,” Lee explained. “We want them to have a high level of confidence in understanding what goes into a quality beef production before it winds up in a box at the back of their warehouse.”

Lee lead an educational session during the day that discussed various topics within the beef community including how cattle are raised, what they are fed and their day-to-day care. Tim Fitzgerald, manager of Cherry Knoll Farm, also offered insight into his wealth of knowledge of the industry, explaining what goes into excellent cattle management as he guided a tour of the farm’s beautiful pastures and herd of high quality Angus.

“It was really great opportunity for the people from Sysco to come experience Cherry Knoll Farm,” Fitzgerald explained. “It was an eye-opening and educational experience for everyone because they saw where the seed stock comes from and how the process begins at the farm.”

Lee expressed gratitude on behalf of Certified Angus Beef® brand to Cherry Knoll Farm for welcoming them, along with Sysco® , for so many learning opportunities.

“The Duprey family and Cherry Knoll Farm has such a strong passion for the agriculture industry,” Lee said. “They love to be able to share that story with others.”
