Cherry Knoll Farm Closes Out 2016 National Junior Angus Show with Top Awards

West Grove, Penn. – July 13, 2016 – From July 3-9, the nation’s most talented junior owners gathered in Grand Isle, Nebraska for the 2016 National Junior Angus Show (NJAS). Cherry Knoll Farm traveled from West Grove, Pennsylvania, enjoying the competition with their team of juniors and quality cattle.

On Wednesday, the Bred and Owned Heifer show kicked off the 2016-edition of the NJAS. On the opening day, the Cherry Knoll Farm team captured three class wins, as well as several second place finishes. Lexi Wright took the win during Class 6 with Wright CKF Ellie 1593. Claudia Hissong won her class with Double C Rosebud 1501, while Brody Fitzgerald won his class with Cherry Knoll Lady 1481. Brother, Bryce Fitzgerald was second with Cherry Knoll Erica 1544. Cailey Dahlquist was fifth with CD Queens Princess.

During the Owned Cow/Calf show, Avery Bates of Manhattan, Montana, took the win in the Aged Cow/Calf division with Cherry Knoll Aurora 1227.

Elizabeth Trowridge and Cherry Knoll Ark Pride 1593 took a big win during the Owned Heifer show, capturing the Reserve Calf Champion in Division 2. Alexis Cash and Cherry Knoll Hailey 1568 won a class, closing out the penultimate day of competition.

On the final day of competition, Cherry Knoll Farm came out with four heifers, taking home several ribbons. Wright showed Cherry Knoll Elba 1510 to a win in her class and was reserve in the division. She was followed by Jera Pipkin, who also showed to the win in her class and her heifer went on to be Senior Champion Heifer. Jake Smith showed Cherry Knoll Ark Pride 1470 to the fourth place, while Katie Hope and Cherry Knoll LVS 1505 finished with top marks. Cailey Dahlquist showed Cherry Knoll LVS 1508 to good results, and Molly Rae Hansen showed Cherry Knoll Elisa 1533 ended the show with a strong class finish.

Catie Hope, President Elect of the 2016 Virginia Junior Angus Association, was elected as a new member of the National Junior Angus Association’s National Board. Scholarship recipients were recognized during the NJAS. Claudia Hissong was awarded the $3,000 Angus Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship, and Alexis Cash earned the $1,250 Woodlawn Farms Angus Scholarship.
