Cherry Knoll Farm Claims Top Titles at 2016 Keystone International Livestock Exposition

Harrisburg, Pa. – Oct. 12, 2016 – The team at Cherry Knoll Farm had a stellar weekend claiming multiple champion and reserve champion titles at the 2016 Keystone International Livestock Exposition (KILE) ROV Angus Show and Junior Angus Show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

On Friday, Oct.7, at the Pennsylvania Farm Complex and Expo Center, Cherry Knoll Farm received top open show results winning Premier Exhibitor and Premier Breeder.

Cherry Knoll Elsa 1610 stole the show by earning the Reserve Grand Champion Female and Calf Champion. The young heifer, who is out of Cherry Knoll Elsa 8014 and sired by Plain View Lutton E 102, is Lot 1 for the 2016 Cherry Knoll Farm Fall Sale.

“It was a great showing for her – it’s really difficult for a young heifer to place in the top two at a large show,” Cherry Knoll Farm’s cattle manager, Tim Fitzgerald, said. “She is very complete. There is a lot of performance in this baby, while she maintains a very high quality. This is one of the best babies we have ever raised.”

On the first day of competition Cherry Knoll Rosebud 1572, showed by Sadie Compagnola, won the Intermediate Champion Female. The pair wrapped up their successful by claiming the Grand Champion Female title on Sunday.

Claudia Hissong showed Double C Rosebud 1602, out of Cherry Knoll Rosebud 1331 and sired by Connealy Final Product, to the Reserve Calf Championship on Friday. On Sunday, they headed home with the Reserve Grand Champion Female and the Grand Champion Bred-and-Owned Female titles from the Keystone Bred-and Owned Junior Angus Show.

Hissong also showed Double C Rosebud 1501, out of Cherry Knoll Rosebud 1331 and sired by Cherry Knoll Product 1271. Double C Rosebud 1501 rounded out her weekend as the Reserve Grand Champion Bred-and-Owned Female.

To wrap up the first day of showing on Friday, Cherry Knoll Brennen 1609, owned by Wilmer Hostetter, won the Junior Bull Calf Championship.In the heifer show, the Reserve Junior Championship Female was awarded to Cailey Dahlquist and CD Queens Princess, out of Cherry Knoll Queen 1337 and sired by Connealy Final Product.

Lexi Wright had a standout show on Sunday earning the Reserve Senior Calf Championship with Wright CKF Ellie 1594 and also winning the Reserve Junior Champion Heifer with Cherry Knoll Elsa 1510.

In addition to their championship and reserve championship titles, the Cherry Knoll Farm team had multiple class winners as well. Cherry Knoll Ark Price 1593 won her class with Elizabeth Trowbridge, and Cherry Knoll Product 1501 won his class with Tim Fitzgerald in the bull show.

“As one of the first shows of fall, the show went very well,” Fitzgerald said. “We had a very successful two days of showing in the open and junior show. We had multiple families who had cattle from Cherry Knoll and they were very pleased with their results. Everyone had a great time.”
