Wellington, Fla. – Oct. 31, 2019 – As proud supporters of the equestrian industry, CaptiveOne Advisors LLC has teamed up with two-time Olympic show jumper Alberto Michán as he continues his quest for 2020 Olympic Games qualification.
At only 9-years-old, Michán was a junior national champion in Mexico and he continued his success a few years later by claiming a gold medal in the 1996 North American Young Rider Championship. The winning moment at NAYRC proved to be a catalyst for Michán to launch his career as a competitive athlete. His dedication to the sport was combined with his studies when he graduated from college with a degree in international business. Today, Michán has developed a thriving business of his own as a professional rider traveling the world for international competition.

Originally riding under the Mexican flag, Michán participated in the 2006 World Championships, the 2008 Olympic games and earned the bronze medal in the 2011 Pan American Games. He returned to the Olympic stage in 2012 for the London Olympics where he placed fifth individually.
“Earning fifth place in the Olympic Games in London was a career highlight for me,” describes Michán. “To be in the finals and be very competitive for the medals was so special for me as a rider. After London, I gained a lot of confidence to keep going in the sport while understanding that if you work hard, all the pieces match, and you have a great horse, there is a big opportunity to do big things.”

In 2018, Michán made the decision to change his nationality and represent Israel on their show jumping team. With high hopes of training to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, Michán is honored by the support of CaptiveOne to help him down the competitive path of qualifying for the most prestigious competition in the sport. His busy competition schedule includes showing in Wellington, Florida, this November during the pre-season competitions leading up the 2020 season where he is looking forward to competing in the Deeridge Farm series and HITS Ocala over the winter. If all goes to plan, Michán will continue to represent CaptiveOne by wearing their logo, in addition to the Israeli flag, as he travels to Europe to continue racking up qualifying points for the team selection for Tokyo.
