“BioStar US has been involved [in the CBLM Championships] for a long time,” said Tina Longacre President of VADA the CBLM Championships. “It’s very hard to get sponsorships for horse shows, especially this day and age so we really appreciate their support. The riders love their swag bags and cookies!”

The namesake of the championship, Colonel Bengt Ljungquist, devoted a decade to furthering the sport of dressage in the United States as the United States Equestrian Team coach and guided the U.S. Dressage Team to a gold medal at the 1975 Mexico City Pan American Games and a bronze medal at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.

In addition to his coaching, Ljungquist was passionate about developing an educational program for dressage judges. His judges’ training program was originally implemented for the Potomac Valley Dressage Association, but soon became a model for most programs nationwide and is still used today. His dedication and leadership of the pursuit of excellence in dressage in the U.S. was recognized by his induction into the USDF Hall of Fame in 1998.
