BioStar US Announces Release of Optimum EQ 2.0 Multivitamin and Mineral Supplement

Gordonsville, VA – Sept. 13, 2019 – BioStar US, the leader and innovator of whole-food supplements for horses, is excited to announce the release of Optimum EQ 2.0 and Optimum EQ 2.0 Senior Formula, a multivitamin and mineral supplement for horses, formulated to support well-being and performance.

“We are seeing more deficiencies in horses now than in 2007 when we released the original Optimum EQ product,” said Tigger Montague, founder and formulator of BioStar US. “Recognizing these deficiencies means taking Optimum EQ to the next level.”

BioStar led the whole-food supplement industry with its revolutionary release of the Optimum EQ line in 2007. The original formula is comprised of a unique combination of spirulina, sprouted seeds, vegetables, nuts, yeast and fruit meant to ensure that a full spectrum of nutrients and minerals are available for your horse. With the advancement of the supplement industry, more mineral deficiencies in horses have become apparent. The feeding of traditional hay, grain and access to forage does not offer the minerals needed to support total equine health.

Minerals perform numerous functions including bone, muscle, heart, brain enzyme and hormone production. BioStar US' custom proteinate mineral blend is made with chain amino acids from rice, not soy.

BioStar US collaborated with a human custom mineral company to create a micro and macro proteinate complex that increases the bioavailability of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, zinc and phosphorus and that are needed to support whole-horse wellness. This proteinate complex takes the entire string of amino acids and encases them around the mineral so when it travels through the stomach and GI tract, the bioavailability is between sixty and seventy percent. In most supplements, minerals such as calcium and magnesium are often inorganic and comprised of ground up rock with 10 percent bioavailability at best.

To bolster the mineral approach, Optimum EQ 2.0 and Optimum EQ 2.0 Senior Formula include undenatured whey protein, organic algae meal and pumpkin seed meal for a total protein profile of 32 percent and the BCAAs to help build and maintain muscle. The re-released formulas include beta carotene from organic carrot powder, Vitamin D from mushrooms, omega-3 fatty acids from chia seeds and organic spirulina to provide nucleic acid and more macro/micro minerals. Reed Sedge Peat has also been added in order to provide higher levels of humic and fulvic acids, important for mineral absorption and pH balance.

Optimum EQ 2.0 Senior Formula offers the same components of Optimum EQ 2.0 with the addition of holy basil to balance circulatory, glandular and hormonal systems in the horse. Senior horses can stress easily, producing higher levels of cortisol. The addition of holy basil helps to reduce cortisol levels. The Senior Formula also includes fenugreek and an active live yeast probiotic to assist in weight gain and to help digest fiber in the hind gut. The 60 billion CFUs of probiotic per serving will also work to improve the “hay belly” effect from stress on the GI tract caused by low bioavailability from inorganic minerals.

When you feed Optimum EQ 2.0 and Optimum EQ 2.0 Senior Formula, you are feeding horses the minerals from a healthy pasture or hay grown in healthy soil. This new generation of whole-food multivitamin and mineral supplementation supports whole-horse health and performance.
