Kiva Iscol and Julius Earn Second in the New England Hunter Derby
Wellington, FL – August 22, 2012 – Parker Wright delivered brilliant performances once again during last week’s Fairfield County Hunt Club Horse Show. Fresh from their Reserve Championship at USEF National Pony Finals, Wright and Lionshare Farm’s Anisette took home the Combined Small/Medium Pony Hunter Championship after solidly winning three of their classes.
Wright’s success did not end there. He and Anisette received the nod of approval from the judges, receiving the blue ribbon in the $500 Emerson Burr Pony Hunter Classic. “I like riding Anisette because she’s not boring,” said Wright. “She has a lot of personality.”
Over the weekend, Wright also piloted Hallelujah to the reserve championship in the Large Pony Hunter division after winning two of their classes.
In the THIS/FW PHA Mini Medal, Wright continued to come through with high marks, riding Chilmark Farm’s Julius to third place honors out of 59 entries. The duo was also third in the Connecticut Hunter/Jumper Association Junior Medal.
“We got Julius this winter as a sale horse,” said Kiva Iscol, owner of Chilmark Farm. “He has showed a lot of potential and this week demonstrated how good he can be across all rings. It’s been a fun project for Elizabeth [Pandich], Parker and me to work on together. When there’s success, it's true teamwork.”
Iscol and Julius were second in the $1,000 New England Derby and earned another red ribbon in the Performance Working Hunter 3’3”. The team was also pinned in the Connecticut Hunter/Jumper Association Adult Medal and the Marshall and Sterling Adult Medal.
“I couldn’t have been happier with Julius’ performance in the Derby,” said Iscol about the 10-year-old Holsteiner. “We got an 88 in the first round proving that he can compete in the Derby world or the equitation world and shine.”
Iscol continued, “In the second round, I made a few mistakes, but he handled them beautifully and even made us look better, covering them up for me. We got bumped to second, but I was so proud of him.”
Teri Wolford Wood and Halifax Farm’s Tristan Van’t Hof made sure the Lionshare Farm team was successfully represented in all rings, earning prizes in the Schooling Jumpers, as well as the Child/Adult Jumpers.
