Phelps Media Group Welcomes Trainer Tom Wright and Uphill Farm to Their Client List

Wellington, FL – July 19, 2012 – Phelps Media Group, Inc. is thrilled to announce the addition of their most recent client, the renowned trainer Thomas Wright. Although originally from California, Wright has trained show hunters, jumpers and equitation on the East Coast since 1980. Wright and his team of trainers and riders at Uphill Farm, have become an unstoppable force in the equestrian sport, earning top honors at the best nation’s most prestigious horse shows.

“I am so glad to have the opportunity to work with Tom,” Mason Phelps, President of Phelps Media Group, said. “He is a brilliant trainer, with a great eye for talent. He knows how to see potential and shape it into something phenomenal. We are happy to welcome both him and Uphill Farm to PMG.”

Wright has received instruction and been mentored by some of the most sought-after trainers in the nation. He used their experience and expertise to create a style of his own, and ultimately, a recipe for success. Using a training technique that stresses methodical preparation, encourages strong horsemanship, and uses forward thinking; Wright has worked his way to the top.

His many accolades include training professional hunter rider Tammy Provost in her early years and throughout her junior career, as well as training the talented hunter mare Strapless, who claimed numerous championship titles. He has also trained professional riders including Kara Hanly-Raposa, Havens Schatt and Emily Williams, all who were leading hunter riders at Devon and the National Horse Show.

His personal awards include championship honors at top shows such as the Devon Horse Show and several Indoors Finals. Wright is the only trainer to have won the AHJF Hunter Spectacular of Pam Beach an astounding five times. He has trained numerous Maclay and Medal winners, including 2010 USEF Hunter Seat Medal Finals and 2010 ASPCA Maclay Finals winner, Hayley Barnhill.

Barnhill now works alongside Wright as his assistant and show rider, helping fellow riders and horses to the top of the standings. Along with Barnhill, Wright also trains John and Stephanie Ingram and their daughter Martha, Missy Luczak-Smith, Laura Karet and Reid Patton—just to name a few. Wright also instructs clients at Hunter’s Moon on Long Island in East Norwich, NY.

Wright will continue showing at Horse Shows by the Bay throughout the third week, and then the team at Uphill Farm will move on to the 89th Annual Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show in North Carolina for the hunter/jumper portion of the show from July 24 - Aug. 5.
