Wellington, FL- April 20, 2012- This week the Great Southwest Equestrian Center hosts the National Reining Breeders Classic (NRBC), the highest added-money event in the world of reining, the only western equestrian competition included in the Olympic Games.

The second largest reining show in the world, the NRBC has successfully called the Great Southwest Equestrian Center home for the past ten years. The NRBC recently signed a letter of intent to keep the show at the high-end equestrian facility for an additional seven years.

At the end of the first day of open preliminary competition, former Open Champion Andrea Fappani leads the field of 211 entries – the largest in the event’s history.

Four-time NRBC Champion Mandy McCutcheon prevailed with a win in the Non Pro Preliminaries, besting 181 other entries. Riding Always Gotyer Gunsup, by Colonels Smoking Gun out of Always A Dunit, McCutcheon earned $8,684 for the Non Pro preliminary win.

The NRBC runs through Sunday, April 22.

Year-round, Great Southwest Equestrian Center is home to a wide range of local, national and international horse shows and events. Great Southwest Equestrian Center is hosts to the NRBC, the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show, one of the country’s most prestigious equestrian events as well as Arabian, Dressage, Hunter/Jumper, Reining and American Quarter Horse Association Shows. In the fall of 2012, Great Southwest Equestrian Center will open a third arena. The new Tellepsen Arena will add to the facility’s capacity allowing an expanded schedule and larger events.
