Wellington, FL- April 19, 2012 - Kimberly S. Jaussi, Ph.D. will present two workshops at the Interscholastic Equestrian Association National (IEA) Hunt Seat Finals on Saturday, April 21, at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm in Syracuse, NY. Jaussi partnered with Olympic Silver Medalist, Peter Leone, to produce the DVD, Ride the Body: Select Insights of Peter Leone and to write the upcoming book, Peter Leone’s Show Jumping Clinic: Success Strategies for Equestrian Athletes.
“As the IEA prepares future riders to step into the equine industry, it is honored to partner with Peter Leone and Kim Jaussi to exemplify the possibilities and potential that exist within this field. Kim Jaussi will be sharing some of those experiences in presentations throughout the weekend at the 2012 IEA Hunt Seat National Finals,” said Roxane Lawrence, Executive Director and Founder of the IEA.
A rider, coach, author and leadership professor at the Center for Leadership Studies, School of Management, Binghamton University (SUNY), Jaussi marries her passion for helping others learn and develop with her love for the fundamentals of riding and jumping.
In the workshop, Jaussi will discuss how horses help us with self-leadership. She will also reveal her own, “dream-come-true” story about how she came to partner with Peter Leone.
According to Jaussi, “Leaders have their eye on the future, actively creating it rather than waiting for it to come and then simply reacting. Riders must do the same thing, not only for each and every round but also in crafting their lives to build on and support their passion for our sport. In this workshop, the equestrian athletes fortunate enough to be part of the IEA Hunt Seat Finals, will have the opportunity to consider their own leadership perspective, begin to craft a vision for their future to include riding, college and life goals and align those goals with every ride they take.”
Jaussi's work in the equestrian world takes a slightly different twist through a series of leadership, team building and sports motivation workshops created specifically for equestrian athletes. Riders who have experienced these workshops have described them as "amazingly infectious and very inspiring!” In addition to delivering energizing workshops to riders and teams at both the college and high school levels, Jaussi also creates and facilitates equine-assisted leadership development and team building workshops for practicing managers and leaders.
“Horses make incredible partners when it comes to learning about yourself and your impact on others. Why? Because it's impossible to hide anything from a horse- they are instant judges of the true character of individuals. Sensing each and every emotion through their natural abilities, horses are live, four-legged mirrors that allow us a glimpse inside ourselves that may not be found any place else.”
An award winning teacher and public speaker, Jaussi received her doctorate in Organizational Behavior from the University of Southern California in 2001 and her A.B in economics from Smith College. A former Pony Clubber and an IHSA alumna of Smith College Riding Team, Jaussi and her family own and operate Lucky Stone Farm in Owego, NY. In addition to her projects with Peter Leone and her consulting and leadership development work, Jaussi is a tenured professor at Binghamton University (SUNY) in the School of Management and a fellow of the Center for Leadership Studies. She teaches courses in Leadership, Innovation, and Organizational Behavior in Binghamton's undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. programs.
