Reality Television Star Michael Cohen and International Rider Anja Ploenzke Judge Dressage Under the Stars Tonight

Wellington, Fl – March 21, 2012 – Dressage Under the Stars enters its sixth week of competition tonight at Polo West, and the anticipation will be palpable as last year’s champion, James Kofford, returns to defend his title. With tonight acting as only a qualifier, Kofford is under pressure as he attempts to piaffe and pirouette his way to victory with an enticing freestyle performance sure to impress. The commentary will of course amuse as always, but especially due to the celebrity guest judge reality television star Michael Cohen.

Last year Kofford performed exhilarating choreography to the soundtrack of the Batman movie while exhibiting his Grand Prix mount, Rhett. The duo eventually secured the $2,500 cash prize and the series’ championship title, and Kofford is thrilled to have the opportunity to compete once again.

Dressage Under the Stars offers an extremely special opportunity for the Dressage community because it gives the public a fun and easy format to understand. The series was originally designed to augment the top caliber International Dressage competitions throughout Wellington, and allow for Dressage to take “center stage” under the lights. Over the last few weeks, Dressage Under the Stars has included freestyle performances from the entire music spectrum—country to classical, Broadway to electronic, and as always, brand new entertainment.

The judges’ panel this evening will include writer for the Huffington Post and Bravo’s Miami Social star Michael Cohen, German International Dressage rider Anja Ploenzke and Dressage judge Allyn Schlayne, who is sure to keep the scoring official. Each judge will bring their “niche” to the table, expertly granting scores based on technique, choreography, music selection and costume design. This Dressage Under the Stars Season has only seen two perfect rides, the question tonight is simple—will tonight add the third?

“Dressage Under the Stars has been a hit this season, capturing both the equestrian and non-equestrian crowds with a mesmerizing sport and some additional flair,” media personality Steve Williams explained. “Our panel of judges is fantastic this week, and I know that everyone will have a good time listening to their wit and commentary as well as seeing James Kofford try to qualify for a chance to defend his title.”
