Wellington, FL – March 16, 2012 – Louise Serio proved unstoppable in the Performance Working Hunter division during Week Ten of the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL. She was aboard top mounts Castle Rock and Rock Star for the competitive division where she claimed both the championship and reserve championship honors, respectively.
Serio and Castle Rock have consistently earned top honors at WEF, claiming the 2011 WCHR Pro Hunter Spectacular and the 2012 WCHR Palm Beach Hunter Spectacular. Week Ten was no exception as the talented duo won three over fences classes and the under saddle. Their wins eventually netted them the championship award for owner Bryan Baldwin on the Performance Working Hunters.
“Castle Rock is so consistent,” explained Serio. “You have to be the one to perform because he is always ready. He’s ready to win every time he walks in the ring, so it’s just up to you to find the jumps.”
The Performance Working Hunter Reserve Championship went to Serio’s second mount Rock Star, owned by Jennifer Burger. Serio and Rock Star won an over fences class and placed second in the handy during the two days of compeition. They also scored a fourth place award in the stake, as well as sixth place ribbon to earn the tricolor prize at the end of the day.
“Rock Star is the most amazing horse,” said Serio. “He really enjoys his job and he really loves showing. He’s awesome; he loves the handy classes. You can feel him get into it and he comes out of the ring with his ears up and he’s just as happy as he can be.”
Serio concluded, “They were all really fun rounds. I haven’t shown Rock Star in a couple weeks and he just feels great. Castle Rock is always outstanding. They are both very made horses and really lovely to ride.”
Derbydown and Louise Serio will continue to compete at the Winter Equestrian Festival for the next two weeks, before returning home to Pennsylvania and gearing up for the spring show season.
