Release Date: 2012-03-13

Devon, PA – March 13, 2012 – The Brandywine Valley Summer Series horse shows presented by Taylor Harris Insurance Services (THIS) is pleased to announce that Get Real Get RAW and the Maguire Family are returning for a second year as one of the event’s top sponsors. Get Real Get RAW is a non-profit organization founded by Lisa Maguire promoting health and healing through raw and living foods. The Brandywine Valley Summer Series will be the highlight of the summer with exciting classes in the hunter, jumper and equitation divisions. Scheduled for June 28-July 2, 2012 and July 4-July 8, 2012, the country’s top horse and rider combinations will gather to compete for the winning honors. This year, Get Real Get RAW and the Maguires have stepped up as the sponsors of the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby.

Lisa Maguire founded Get Real Get RAW in 2009, with the support of her two sisters Pamela Miller Christian and Mindy Moore, in their mission to promote health and healing through raw foods. The goal of Get Real Get RAW is to inspire humanity to explore and participate in the growing, preparing, and consumption of fresh, organic, raw fruits, vegetables and greens. They work to educate people from all walks of life about the healing power of raw foods. The replication of their products and programs is possible across the country and around the world.

Last year, Get Real Get RAW was a vendor during the two-week horse show, and also sponsored the Junior Hunter divisions. Junior rider Jane Maguire rides with Louise Serio and Derbydown, and Serio’s love of their delicious “GReen smOOTHIE" is what began their involvement with the show. “We wanted to support The Brandywine Valley Summer Series, and the National Hunter Derby is one of my personal favorite events,” explained Lisa. “Jumpers have the Grand Prix to showcase their talents and the Hunter Derby is a beautiful way to showcase the hunters in a way that becomes great entertainment for the spectators.”

Lisa continued, “Last year was amazing. Brandywine is unlike any other horse show that I have experienced. The show grounds are undeniably fantastic, and the intimacy of the entire event was amazing. We are really looking forward to the 2012 series. Now that word has gotten out about what a great horse show Brandywine is and about our Groothie, our GReen smOOTHIE, we are expecting a big spike in traffic.”

Over the last year, Get Real Get RAW opened their first outreach office in Northern Philadelphia at The Village of Arts. This is the first location that Get Real Get RAW can offer education about the GReen smOOTHIEs, as we well as have them for sale to the community. They run after school programs at the new location, as well as offer classes and fresh produce for the community.

Lisa concluded, “Being a part of Brandywine has been such an wonderful experience, to be able to introduce the horse world to the powerful nutritional value of Raw Foods and The Groothie has been really exciting. Riders and trainers who came to our Groothie booth at Brandywine last year are still talking about it. We have an opportunity to reach a very important community of accomplished athletes that have been served burgers and fries almost exclusively. We are a non-profit committed to health and this is a perfect venue for us to spread the word.”

The Get Real Get RAW $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby is scheduled for Saturday, July 7, 2012. Additional highlights will include week two’s designation as a WCHR Member Event, the Johnson Horse Transportation $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby and the Small Hunter division.
