Phelps Media Group, Inc. Welcomes James Fairclough II and Cavalier Show Jumping to Client Roster
Written by: Kendall Bierer Client:James H. Fairclough II and Cavalier Show Jumping Release Date:2012-01-06
Wellington, FL – January 6, 2012 - Phelps Media Group Inc., (PMG), a leading public relations firm in the equestrian industry, is pleased to announce that James Fairclough II has joined its expanding list of clients. Fairclough comes from a remarkable family highly involved in the equine industry. Combining his inherent passion for horses and riding with his equestrian legacy, Fairclough recently opened Cavalier Show Jumping, based out of Seahorse Stables in Water Mill, NY.
“I am so pleased to be able to have James as a client for Phelps Media Group,” President of Phelps Media Group Mason Phelps, Jr. said. “James has proven himself as a talented young rider, and is now taking the steps to go out on his own as a professional. I look forward to witnessing the talented riders that come out of Cavalier Show Jumping.”
Fairclough’s grandfather is Dr. Robert Rost, an esteemed veterinarian, and now a horse show legend. Rost was one of the original professional course designers in the nation. He also helped instill the need for metal jump cups, wing standards, measured distances and electric timers. Rost’s daughter and Fairclough’s mother, Robin Fairclough, was the winner of the AHSA Medal Finals as a junior and currently runs Top Brass Farm where she trains hunters and jumpers. Fairclough’s father, Jimmy Fairclough, is a well-known four-in-hand driver who has represented the United States frequently during international competitions and is current national champion.
Following his mother’s advice, Fairclough ventured outside of Top Brass Farms for training. For his first year of college, Fairclough studied abroad in Holland where he worked at Stal Hendrix with trainers Paul and Emile Hendrix. Fairclough admitted that through their guidance, he pushed to achieve more than he had ever expected out of himself. Fairclough graduated from Drew University in 2009, and soon after graduation began working for Candice King. He has also worked with Frank and Mary Chapot as well as Anne Kursinski.
During his time with King, Fairclough gained a great deal of knowledge from her western background. Her different techniques from western, European and American styles helped to shape Fairclough into a better-rounded equestrian. Although Fairclough is only 25 years old, his resume is extensive and he looks forward to passing on his experience to his students.
Fairclough has an extensive background of impressive wins on his riding resume. In 2008, he was the Cacchione Cup Champion at the IHSA National Championships. He was also an occasional rider on Zealous, owned by Mary Chapot, 2010 WEF Circuit Champion, and 2010 USEF 6 Year Old Young Jumper Horse of the Year, as well as 2011 WEF Circuit Champion for 7 Year Olds, and 2011 USEF 7 Year Old Young Jumper Horse of the Year. In 2011, James rode Starquest, owned by Mary Chapot, to the 2011 Six Year Olds Circuit Championship. He also was the co-rider of Zealous, who was awarded the 2011 WEF Circuit Champion for the Seven and Eight Year Olds, as well as Horse of the Year for the Seven and Eight Year Olds in 2011.
This year, Fairclough is looking forward to training Kira Kerkorian and Brooke Banks at the prestigious Winter Equestrian Festival. For more information about Cavalier Show Jumping, please contact Fairclough by calling 862-686-0203 or email cavalierjumping@gmail.com
