Written by: Rebecca Walton
Client: Nordic Lights Farm
Release Date: 2011-11-09

Argyle, TX – November 9, 2011 –Nordic Lights Farm had a tremendously successful week during the Dallas Harvest Horse Show, held at the Texas Rose Horse Park from November 2-6, 2011. With a full string of talented horses, they claimed top ribbons in the hunter, jumper, and equitation rings. Junior rider Lene Bruheim was the winner of the EMO Z Cup Equitation Finals, while her sister Eirin Bruheim claimed the Biko Trophy as the High Point Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper. Professional rider Peter Pletcher topped off the week with a victory in the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby aboard NLF Shakespeare’s Rhythm.

Lene performed beautifully in the junior divisions throughout the week. She had an incredible performance with Say No More during the EMO Z Cup Equitation Finals that garnered her the judges’ top call and the winning trophy. The duo also placed second in the WIHS Equitation and ASPCA Maclay classes, after placing first and third during the Junior 14-17 Equitation division.

In the hunter ring, Lene showed Pristine Park to two second place ribbons and a fourth place ribbon to claim the Children’s 15-17 Hunter Reserve Championship. She also competed in the Large Junior 16-17 Hunters aboard NLF Shakespeare’s Rhythm to earn good ribbons. Finally, in the Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers, Lene competed against her sister Eirin riding NLF Valhall to place third during the event.

“Say No More was amazing this weekend,” smiled Lene. “I couldn't ask for a more cooperative equitation horse. I really feel in sync with him now, and cannot wait to keep showing him. NLF Shakespeare's Rhythm was awesome too, after winning the derby he was still peppy and willing to please. Pristine Park was great as well; he couldn't have been more of a trooper. I'm still getting to know him, but he's very talented and a great ride. NLF Valhall was just an amazing sport; he jumped his heart out and was so willing to do what I asked. I cannot express how wonderful it is to have these amazing horses.”

Eirin had great success in the Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers during the week, winning all three of the classes aboard her longtime mount Cicero 75. Their effort garnered them the championship award and the Biko Trophy as the High Point Junir/Amateur-Owner. The pair also competed in the $5,000 1.25m Jumper Classic where they placed fifth. Anyway, the newest addition to Nordic Lights Farm, also showed with Eirin in the irons, placing fourth and sixth in the Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers.

“Dallas Harvest was my first show back from a six month riding break, so I was a little apprehensive,” explained Eirin. “However my horses came back to be awesome from their breaks and I even remembered a few things. Cicero 75 and was double clean in the 1.25m Classic on Friday, which helped ease my nerves a bit. We also showed in the Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers, where he won all three classes and was fantastic. This was the first time I have ridden Anyway, but she was really good and I was pleased with out results.”

Professional rider Peter Pletcher also brought home a big win for Nordic Lights Farm during the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby with NLF Shakespeare’s Rhythm. The pair earned excellent scores during the first round to place fourth, and then they showed incredible skill during the handy round to receive the highest score and eventually lead the victory gallop.

Nordic Lights Farm is a 70-acre establishment located in Tomball, TX, and was founded in 2007 by the Bruheim family to help further the equestrian goals of 18-year-old Eirin Bruheim and 16-year-old Lene Bruheim.
