Written by: Lindsay McCall Client:Deeridge Farm Release Date:2010-07-19
East Aurora, NY - July 19, 2010- Deeridge Farms recently made their way up to Vermont where they are currently earning top accolades, but the excitement from Lake Placid is still being felt. Deeridge Farms had an extraordinary two weeks securing multiple ribbons and top rosettes. The Lake Placid Horse Shows is two weeks of shows in the Adirondacks that the entire Jacobs family looks forward to every year. Deeridge Farms is a family-owned hunter jumper facility with locations in East Aurora, NY and Wellington, FL.
The first week of competition at Lake Placid began with Charlie Jacobs securing the championship in the High Amateur-Owner division aboard Leap Of Joy. He also had wonderful results aboard Quidditch.
Charlie moved Leap of Joy up to the Open divisions because of the success at the beginning of the week. “While we had our difficult moments over the larger courses, I look back on Lake Placid as a major step forward in his development,” noted Charlie. “I feel Leap Of Joy is maturing nicely and that he will be competing in larger and more interesting classes in the near future.”
During Lake Placid, Olaf Peterson designed the courses and during I Love New York, Steve Stephens designed the jumper courses. Charlie acknowledged, “Peterson and Stevens designed thoughtful courses each week and both managed to incorporate the natural hills of the Lake Placid Grand Prix field to make the rounds quite challenging for every class.”
Joan added, “The field is always fun to show in and Olaf, Jr. built a great course for the Classic making it a bit more technical with options; it was perfect.”
On the last Sunday both rings were opened up for the jumpers. Stephens had riders start in one ring loop over to the annex and then finish up back in the main ring.” Joan responded, “I think everyone enjoyed both courses.”
Joan Jacobs dominated the Adult Amateur-Owner 40 and Over Jumper division winning the championship rosette with Lawando. The talented 11-year-old gelding is owned by North Star Ventures of East Aurora LLC. During the I Love New York Horse Show, Joan won the championship aboard Boyke 2. The excitement continued when Joan won the NAL Adult Jumper Classic with Boyke 2 finalizing a terrific week.
Louis Jacobs also had fantastic results earning the Champion High Amateur-Owner Jumper ribbon with Kachina , winning second place in the High Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, and earning second in the Low Amateur-Owner Jumper with Soleil.
Wrapping up the week Charlotte Jacobs of North Star Ventures of East Aurora LLC topped the High Junior Jumper during both weeks with Kartouche VD Watering. During the first week the pair won the championship ribbon and during the second week the pair earned a second place ribbon. Charlotte earned the reserve championship in the first week of the Low Junior Jumpers aboard Draco, owned by Wembley Farms, and during the second week Charlotte earned a second place aboard her new mount Promised Land. Under the tutelage of Missy Clark and John Brennan, Charlotte has been placing quite consistently and during Lake Placid everything really came together.
In the hunter ring, Kim Jacobs and Artistic won the reserve championship in the Adult Amateur Working hunter 36-50 and William Jacobs aboard Tinker Toy, owned by Emma Butchard, won the championship prize in the Short Stirrup Equitation 8 & Under.
Charlie said, “We have been enjoying Lake Placid as a family for over 30 years and I hope to share the experience with my siblings and children for many more years to come.”
Deeridge Farms will continue to compete at the Vermont Summer Horse Shows, Katie and Charlie Jr. will compete at Pony Finals, the family will head to the Hampton Classic Horse Show, and then the Fidelity Jumper Classic.
