Palms West Hospital is Presenting Sponsor for Little Smiles' 2010 "Star's Ball"

Release Date: 2010-02-08

Wellington, FL – February 8, 2010 - Little Smiles is pleased to announce that Palms West Hospital will be the presenting sponsor for the 2010 "Stars Ball." Palms West Hospital is currently celebrating its 24th year in the healthcare industry as a leader that is dedicated to highest quality care of its patients. The Little Smiles' 2010 "Stars Ball" will be held on Saturday, February 13, beginning at 6:00 p.m., at the Harriet Himmel Theater in West Palm Beach. Little Smiles is a 501c3 charitable organization that strives to fulfill the needs of children in local hospitals, hospices, and shelters.

"Little Smiles is a very integral part of the Children's Hospital at Palms West," commented “Stars Ball” Chairman Bland Eng of Palms West. "The unselfish benevolence and commitment of the organization as well as the immediate impact on the lives of the patients and their families really stands out."

Palms West Hospital became the Presenting Sponsor of the Little Smiles' 2010 "Stars Ball" because of its generous contributions to the local community. "The hospital as well as the Medical Staff at Palms West felt an obligation to support such an important organization," said Eng.

The "Stars Ball" is an annual black-tie gala modeled after the Oscars where the community's true heroes, children facing cancer or other life altering conditions, replace the actors. For one night they have the opportunity to escape their daily battle and enter the glamorous world of Hollywood. This event offers the children the opportunity to walk the red carpet complete with photographers, enjoy a delicious catered dinner, and participate in a wonderful awards presentation.

Eng has been involved with the "Stars Ball" for a number of years and he is always excited about the event. "I look forward to seeing the smiles and laughter of the children," he noted. "I also look forward to seeing the expressions of joy on the families, physicians, nurses, caregivers, and Little Smile staff as they watch the children celebrate."

Little Smiles fulfills its mission through donations that allow them to give children items such as toys, games, videos, computers, and experiences which include, outings, special events, limousine transportation, concert and sporting event tickets, specialty dinners, celebrity meet and greets, and more.

"Little Smiles is true to its name in that the charity fulfills its mission and places smiles on pediatric patients in our hospital," explained Eng. "Although there are many wonderful charities, with Little Smiles, you can see the immediate effects in addition to the long term goals of the organization. There is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing a child robbed of his childhood by illness. During hospitalization, with intervention by Little Smiles, patients are transformed back into children again."

Tickets for the Little Smiles' 2010 "Stars Ball are limited. To become a sponsor, purchase tickets, or for more information about Little Smiles, please visit www.littlesmiles.org.
