Each year PhelpsSports.com holds year-end awards, which allow subscribers to vote for the best of the best in horses, riders, trainers, and shows, and Horse Shows by the Bay was a fan favorite for the 2009 show season. Held each summer at Flintfields Horse Park in beautiful Traverse City, MI, the Horse Shows by the Bay Equestrian Festival features a series of hunter, jumper, and dressage competitions throughout the months of July and August. Founded in 2004, the Horse Shows by the Bay Equestrian Festival attracts thousands of the nation’s best horses and riders competing in the International Olympic disciplines of show jumping and dressage plus hosts national and locally ranked events for the show hunter, open breed and equitation rider. The festival is produced by Traverse City residents Dean and Alexandra Rheinheimer who collectively have more than 20 years of experience managing and producing equestrian events nationwide.
“For Dean and myself winning this award is like winning at Indoors. We're truly flattered,” stated Alexandra Rheinheimer. “Except for Young Riders we've been to all of the other nominated shows and to be ranked as the best of those is such an honor.”
To date the Horse Shows by the Bay Equestrian Festival has brought more than $40 million in tourism revenue to the immediate area.
