Written by: Rebecca Walton Client:Hi Hopes Farm LLC Release Date:2009-07-16
Lexington, KY- July 16, 2009 - Hi Hopes Farm is pleased to announce that Alise Oken has been selected to compete at the 2009 Adequan FEI North American Junior/Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North. Oken will compete as a part of the Zone 3 Junior Team with Pedro, her 12-year-old KWPN gelding. Hi Hopes Farm is based in Charlotte, NC, and owned by Marc and Celene Oken. Oken trains with top instructors Steve Heinecke and Jeff Wirthman.
The Zone 3 Junior Team includes Oken, Catherine Pasmore, Samantha Schaefer, Lucy Blundon, and Rachel Cline. Oken and Pedro had an exciting win last week at the I Love New York Horse Show in the $2,500 High Junior Jumper class, preparing them for next week's competition.
"Alise and Pedro are an excellent team and after their win last week at Lake Placid they are confident going into this competition," said trainer Jeff Wirthman. "I think we have a very good Junior Team and I'm very excited about our chances."
"I am confident because Steve has been drilling Alise at home on flatwork and getting her prepared," he continued. "With Pedro it's not as much about jumping jumps as it is about flatwork and keeping him fit and I like to keep him a little on the fresh side. I think he will do very well going into Young Riders."
The 2009 Adequan FEI North American Junior/Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North are held July 21-July 26 at the scenic Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY.
