Horse Sports by the Bay to Host Five Fundraisers Over the Course of its Three-Week Equestrian Festival

Written by: Elise DeVoe
Client: Horse Sports by the Bay, Inc.
Release Date: 2007-07-18

Traverse City, MI – July 18, 2007 – From July 18 through August 5, 2007, Traverse City, MI, will be home to Horse Sports by the Bay’s three-week equestrian festival. The festival comprises Horse Shows by the Bay and Zada Enterprises, LLC’s Dressage by the Bay and features some of the top horses and riders in the country. Throughout the festival, Horse Sports by the Bay will host several fundraisers, each supporting a different equestrian charity or foundation.

During the first week of Horse Shows by the Bay, July 18-22, the fundraisers will benefit the Equestrian Aid Foundation (EAF) and the Michigan 4-H Foundation. EAF’s mission is to assist anyone in the equestrian world suffering from life threatening illness, catastrophic accidents or injuries by providing direct financial support for their medical or other basic needs. First for EAF, a Global Electric Motocars (GEM) vehicle will be raffled off at $75 per ticket. A limited number of tickets will be sold throughout the week and the winner will be drawn on Sunday, July 22, during the exhibitor’s party at Trattoria Stella, a local Traverse City restaurant. The Michigan 4-H fundraiser will take place in conjunction with Kid’s Day on July 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children under the age of 18 are welcome for free and will be presented with an assortment of activities such as horseless jumping, a behind-the-scenes barn tour, face painting, a horsemanship demonstration and a K9 agility demonstration. Kid’s Day is co-sponsored by Equisports Insurance Agency and Tory Watters of Watership Downs.

During Sunday’s “Celebration Dinner” there will be two additional ways to support EAF. Sponsored by EverAfter Diamonds, the “Diamond Drop” features 100 $50 glasses of sparkling Italian wine and the chance to discover a one karat diamond at the bottom of your glass. Lesson packages with prominent trainers, including Robert Dover, Kent Farrington, Andre Dignelli and Louis Serio, will also be auctioned off in the name of EAF.

The American Hunter-Jumper Foundation (AHJF) will benefit from the “Fun Flag Football” game during the second week of Horse Shows by the Bay. The AHJF focuses on spectator education, providing emergency support within the hunter/jumper community, developing a retirement plan for the industry, offering scholarships and encouraging grass-roots organizations to become more educated. Sponsored by Personalized Products, Ann K. Hubbard’s Tack Shop and Custom Fox Tack, the football game will take place on Tuesday, July 24. Personalized Products will be selling T-shirts to coincide with each team, as well as special cheerleader T-shirts for around $15.

On Sunday, July 29, a $1,000 2’6” Hunter Classic, sponsored by Alexandra and Dean Rheinheimer, will benefit Ride for the Ribbon and the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research.

During the last week, Horse Sports by the Bay will be hosting a fundraiser for CANTER, an organization dedicated to providing new opportunities for retiring racehorses. This fundraiser consists of a party, silent auction and raffle. Coinciding with the D-Braider $25,000 Cherry Capital Classic Grand Prix on Saturday, August 4, the Meijer-sponsored party offers free food for everyone. Additionally, the silent auction will take place during the party and the winner of the Jeep-style golf cart raffle will be announced. Tickets for the raffle will be sold throughout the week.
