There’s Something For Everyone at International Polo Club Palm Beach

WELLINGTON, FL (February 11, 2007) – The polo season is in full swing and the baseball season is about to begin, but that didn’t keep a couple of Florida Marlins baseball players from taking a break from practice to appreciate the world-class athletes and high-speed action at International Polo Club Palm Beach.

With spring training less than a week away, relief pitcher Taylor Tankersley and catcher Matt Treanor participated in the pre-game coin toss ceremony and watched some of the best players in the world.

And there’s always more than world-class polo every weekend. The Panera Bread Kids Fun Zone attracts a large and loyal following. Charities choose the club as a unique venue – this week, Food for the Poor and Elite Greyhound Adoptions/Pure Thoughts Inc. Horse & Foal Rescue each held benefits at International Polo Club, raising money and awareness for their respective causes.

On the field, the game was close to the very end as Fred Mannix Jr. scored with 53 seconds left to carry BTA over Lechuza Caracas 11-10 in an Ylvisaker Cup presented by Cartier quarterfinal match on Stanford Field at International Polo Club.

Kelly Beal of BTA received the MVP award from Dr. Jennine Cabanellas and Juan Gonzales of The Wellington Institute. Craig Dickmann of Cartier Palm Beach handed out prizes to winners and Scott Chaisson of Stanford Private Wealth Management presented gifts to the runners-up.

The tournament marks Cartier’s return to polo and links both institutions that rely on elegance and passion. The high-goal polo season continues this Sunday at 3 p.m. with the championship match of the Ylvisaker Cup presented by Cartier.

The polo matches are open to the public and tickets may be purchased at the gate on the day of the game or in advance at the stadium box office. International Polo Club Palm Beach is located at 3667 120th Avenue South, between Pierson Road and Lake Worth Road in Wellington. For information, directions or ticket purchases, please call the club at (561) 204-5687 or visit the website at www.internationalpoloclub.com.
