Jennifer Reid Picks Up First Win in Ariat Adult Medal
Wellington, FL – January 30, 2007 – Bainbridge Farm of Wellington, FL, found success in their first outing at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) of 2007, the WEF/PBIEC Inaugural, on January 24-28, 2007.
Lansing, a four year old German Warmblood gelding, was piloted to victory in the Pre-Green 3 & 4 Year Old Hunter division by Rob Bielefeld. Lansing is owned by Richard Schechter of Bainbridge Farm.
Although he showed lightly last year, it was Lansing’s debut at WEF with Bielefeld in the irons. They won their first two over fences class and finished second in the under saddle and jumping class on Thursday. “For a young horse, we really had no idea what to expect,” Bielefeld admitted. “We’re glad he came out well; he was great.”
Bielefeld has worked with Lansing for three months to prepare for competition and have concentrated on flat work. “The jumping is really easy for him,” Bielefeld said. “He seems to love it. He’s come a long way, and he’s a big, beautiful horse.”
Jennifer Reid of Wellington, FL, rode Sweet Emotion to second place in the Adult Amateur 18-35 Hunter under saddle and fourth in the over fences class.
On Leon, a horse she leases for the equitation, Reid won the Ariat Adult Medal. She had the leading score in the first round (an 83) and stayed on top through the test of the top four riders. “This was our first time showing at a big ‘A’ show,” Reid noted. “I thought it would take a while to get used to him because his stride is so big. This was a nice surprise, and he was absolutely super.”
The horses of Bainbridge Farm train with Gary Duffy of Little Brook Farm in Ithaca, NY. “He’s the greatest,” Reid said with a smile. “We’re so lucky to have him and Rob working with us.”
