SBS Farm’s Kacey McCann Captures Third Best Junior Rider Title At HITS IV Ocala

Ocala, FL- March 7, 2006- Kacey McCann of Palmyra, Pennsylvania, has found Ocala to her liking as she was named Best Junior Rider by the judges at the HITS IV Ocala Tournament show in Ocala, Florida. This is the third time in four weeks that McCann has received this prestigious award in Ocala. SBS Farms finished Ocala Week IV with four championship ribbons and four reserve championships.

Trainer Susie Schoellkopf said, “I’m very proud of Jennifer (Alfano) and Kacey (McCann). They seem to be having a great Ocala.”

In the Equitation 15-17 division, McCann began her week with a blue ribbon riding her equitation horse, Marcellus, owned by the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center of Buffalo, New York.

McCann showed Mick O Angelo in the Junior Jumper (Low) Level 5 competition and picked up a second place ribbon. Mick O Angelo is also owned by the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center of Buffalo, New York.

In the Washington International Show Equitation Classic, McCann rode Marcellus in the Hunter phase, where the pair took second place.

In the Small Junior Hunter 15 and Under division, McCann showed Regalo, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Ernest M. Oare of Warren, Virginia. The pair was champion in the division, taking home three first place ribbons to capture the tricolor.

Moving on to the Large Junior Hunter 15 and Under division, McCann showed Carlyle for owner Susan Brunn of Medinah, Minnesota. The pair received two first place ribbons on their way to the reserve championship.

McCann finished off her superb weekend with a double win in the Modified Junior Hunter division. Again on Carlyle for owner Susan Brunn, she took two blue ribbons for the championship ribbon. Showing Natalie for Mr. and Mrs. Hunt Tosh, she also captured the reserve championship with a first and two seconds.

In the Regular Working Hunter division, GG Valentine, owned by Barbara Kearney of Placerville, Colorado, was ridden by Jennifer Alfano to the championship. GG received two firsts and two seconds on her way to the tricolor. Alfano said of GG Valentine, “She was really, really good. I can always count on her. Barbara is going to show her in the Adult Hunterss later this year. She’s already qualified for Devon and Indoors.”

In the First Year Green Hunter division, Breitling took home two blue ribbons and the reserve championship. Jennifer Alfano had the ride for owner Jennifer Burger of Buffalo, New York. Alfano said of Breitling, “He’s pretty green; he’s just figuring everything out. He’s a very nice horse, just needs some mileage.”

Good Company, owned by SBS Farms, smoothly cantered his way to the championship in the Pre-Green Hunter 2 (High) division. With Jennifer Alfano aboard, the pair captured three firsts and a second to bring home the tricolor ribbon. “He’s a spectacular horse,” Alfano said. She added, “He’s such a good jumper; very easy. He’s a fun, fun horse.”

Riding Churchill in the Second Year Green Hunter division for owner Meredith Lipke Bartolone, Alfano netted a blue ribbon over fences.

Meredith Lipke Bartolone of Buffalo, New York was reserve champion in the Amateur-Owner Hunter 36 and Over division on her hunter, Once And Again. The pair gathered in a first place and a second place to win the reserve. Bartolone shared, “This is a big surprise. I really redeemed myself. There is really tough competition in this division. There are lots of good riders and good horses. It’s a fun way to finish!” Riding her other horse, Churchill, Bartolone scored a blue over fences in the division.

In the Adult Equitation 36 and Over division, Bartolone also picked up a second place ribbon on the flat.
