Karen Healey Stables Dominates Equitation, Country Grammar is Letter Perfect at Indio Desert Circuit
Indio, CA- February 7, 2006- The second week of the Indio Desert Circuit found the riders of Karen Healey Stables in the winner’s circle multiple times. Trainer Karen Healey of Westlake Village, California helped riders in every discipline at the competition.
One of the most successful pairs from last year is continuing their dominance in the Amateur-Owner 36 & Over Hunters. Country Grammar and Mary Ann Weisberg-Perry of Burbank, CA received a first, second, third, and two fourth place ribbons this past week. These top finishes gave them the tricolor in the division. Country Grammar also led the victory gallop in the Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic.
Skylar Nelson and Magic Formula placed first, second, and third to capture the championship in the Small Schooling Pony hunters. Nelson also rode to first place in the HITS Pony Medal class.
In the jumper divisions, Torie Immel and Regal improved on last week’s results to place second in the $10,000 High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic. Immel, of Newport Beach, CA, also rode Ambassador to first place in Section B of the USEF Junior Medal class and third place in Section A of the ASPCA Maclay class.
Joining Immel at the top in the junior equitation classes were Alexandra Conforti of La Canada, CA, Veronica Tracy of San Juan Capistrano, CA, and Shelby Wakeman of Westlake, CA. Conforti and The Graduate finished second in the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search class and were third in both the CPHA Junior Medal class and Section B of the ASPCA Maclay class.
Tracy piloted Guns N’ Roses to the win in the CPHA Junior Medal. The pair also scored an 89 in the hunter phase of the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) Equitation Classic and placed second. Tracy and Fred Bauer’s Hampton Court won the Modified Junior-Amateur-Owner Jumper class.
Wakeman scored a 90 to win the hunter phase of the WIHS Equitation Classic and placed second overall. She also picked up second place in the HBO Junior Medal class.
The adult riders at Karen Healey Stables were also quite competitive at Indio. Kristi Siam of Chatsworth, CA rode Cara 6 to first place in the CPHA Adult Medal class. She also placed second in the PCHA Adult Medal and third in the USEF Adult Medal classes.
Yvette Lang-Einczig and Raul won the USEF Adult Medal, as well as the Foxfield Medal class. Also in the ribbons in the Adult Medal classes were Stephanie Mazer and Karoline Sauls.
Karen Healey Stables will continue to show at the Indio Desert Circuit next week, February 7-12, 2006.
