Salamander Hotels and Resorts Return As Title Sponsor of $35,000 Accumulator Class

Lexington, KY – August 15, 2017 – The 2017 CP National Horse Show is excited to welcome back luxury resort brand, Salamander Hotels & Resorts, as title sponsor of the $35,000 Accumulator class on Friday, November 3, 2017. Held in the Alltech Arena at the world-famous Kentucky Horse Park, the CP National Horse Show will run from October 31 through November 5, 2017.

Competitors will face a course of progressively difficult jumps in the Salamander Hotels & Resorts $35,000 Accumulator. For each obstacle cleared by horses and riders, they will be awarded an ever-increasing corresponding number of points. Presented in a nontraditional format, the winner of this popular class will earn the coveted Whitney Stone Memorial Trophy. Last year, Olympian Leslie Howard won aboard her own Donna Speciale.

Founded by entrepreneur Sheila C. Johnson in 2005, Salamander Hotels & Resorts is headquartered in the historic horse country of Middleburg, VA, just outside Washington, D.C., and features a diverse, luxurious portfolio that includes the equestrian-inspired Salamander Resort & Spa. Also situated in Middleburg, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the resort has been acclaimed as one of the finest in the world. Located on 340 acres, it features 168 luxurious, spacious rooms and suites, and an exquisite spa with one-of-a-kind features like outdoor treatment terraces and a spa courtyard. It also has a spectacular full-service equestrian center with a 22-stall stable, riding arena, nine paddocks and a vast array of programming that utilizes the miles of on-property trails.

“It is an honor to welcome back Salamander Hotels & Resorts and Sheila Johnson to our wonderful family of sponsors,” said Mason Phelps, Jr., the President of the National Horse Show Foundation. “The Johnson name, as well as Salamander’s brand are unmatched in our industry, and are synonymous with being first class. I am so glad they are back with us again this year as the CP National Horse Show continues to grow and thrive in Lexington.”

The Middleburg resort is only one property within Johnson’s growing hotel company. In addition, Salamander operates four existing golf and family resorts across the state of Florida: Innisbrook Resort in Tampa Bay, which features the famed Copperhead Course, host of the PGA TOUR’s Valspar Championship; Reunion Resort in Orlando (wio (th courses by Palmer, Watson and Nicklaus), Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast (courses by Nicklaus and Watson); and The Henderson on the tranquil shores of Destin.

Branching out into other states, Salamander recently opened the NOPSI Hotel in New Orleans, LA, in the thriving Central Business District and just two blocks from the famous Canal Street. Debuting in spring 2018 is Hotel Bennett in Charleston, SC, which overlooks the city’s famed Marion Square.

With $810,000 in prize money offered, this year’s CP National Horse Show has been designated a CSI-W 4* show by the FEI and the International Open Jumpers will compete for almost a half a million dollars in prize money. For the sixth year in a row, The National Show Hunter Hall of Fame has named the CP National Horse Show the ‘Horse Show of the Year’. In 2017, the top-rated hunter sections have a total purse of $195,000. In addition, the CP National Horse Show will once again host the prestigious ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship Championships.
