Established in 1978, the UK Markey Cancer Foundation is the fundraising arm of the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center. Kentucky holds the unfortunate distinction of being first among all 50 states in overall cancer incidence and mortality. The UK Markey Cancer Foundation has been instrumental in facilitating groundbreaking cancer research and clinical trials, as well as compassionate patient care at the Markey Cancer Center.
“We are honored to have the CP National Horse Show support such an outstanding organization,” said President of the National Horse Show Association Mason Phelps. “Cancer has affected us all in one way or another, and we are proud to help fund the cutting-edge initiatives being carried out at Markey.”

to find a cure for cancer in Kentucky.

“Every hour of every day someone in Kentucky loses their battle with cancer. It’s a sobering statistic, and one that can only be lessened through advancements in research and treatment. The UK Markey Cancer Foundation is the fundraising arm of Kentucky’s only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center, a distinction that ranks it in the top 5-percent of all cancer centers in the country. We are humbled and honored to partner with such a prestigious event, and we thank each person participating in the National Horse Show, whether it be on the backs of horses or as sponsors, vendors or spectators for their support,” said University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Foundation President and CEO Mike Delzotti.

With $810,000 in prize money offered, this year’s show has been designated a CSI-W 4* show by the FEI and the International Open Jumpers will compete for almost a half a million dollars in prize money. For the sixth year in a row, The National Show Hunter Hall of Fame has named the CP National Horse Show the ‘Horse Show of the Year.’ In 2017, the top-rated hunter sections have a total purse of $195,000.
