The CP National Horse Show Announces the Addition of the 3’3″ Maclay Final in Honor of the USHJA Foundation

Wellington, Fla. – April 3, 2017 The CP National Horse Show is thrilled to announce the addition of a 3’3” Maclay Final, in honor of the USHJA Foundation, to its already outstanding line up of hunter and jumper divisions. The National Horse Show 3’3” Maclay Finals will be an integral part of helping young equitation riders prepare for the prestigious ASPCA Maclay National Championship that has been a highlight event of every National Horse Show event since its inception in 1933.

“I am very excited about the creation of the National Horse Show 3’3” Maclay Finals,” remarked Geoff Teall, Chairman of the Equitation Committee for the National Horse Show. “Not only will these finals give the next generation of riders a more logical and comfortable entry into the equitation division, it will also introduce them to the great history of the National Horse Show and the Maclay itself.”

The inaugural year of the National Horse Show 3’3” Maclay Finals will take place on Sunday, October 29, in the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park and will not require riders to be prequalified to participate. The prizes that will be awarded at the end of the class will include a trophy for the winning rider, the winning rider’s name inscribed on the National Horse Show 3’3” Alfred B. Maclay Memorial Trophy that will be proudly displayed at the Kentucky Horse Park Museum, as well as a commemorative cooler for the top 10 finalists. A Trainer’s Award will also be presented to the trainer of the winning rider.

“The USHJA Foundation is honored to be aligned with this great new addition to the country’s oldest indoor horse show,” commented Jenn Burger, Senior Vice President of the National Horse Show and USHJA Foundation President.

For 84 years, the National Horse Show has hosted the ASPCA Maclay National Championship competition, the most important event in equitation. These finals consistently highlight the country’s top junior equestrian athletes who will go on to be the future professional American equestrians. With the addition of the National Horse Show 3’3” Maclay Finals, riders who have dreams of becoming the next winner of the ASPCA Maclay National Championship will have the opportunity to hone their skills in the same ring as their 3’6” counterparts
